He's come a long way though in the past he wouldn't like me getting that close to the edge!

And in all fairness he was just as close to the edge and I was just thought it was classic shot I caught of him peeking over the edge!

Mmuuah! Love you Panda! Sorry couldn't resist!

^ that drive alone is enough to make some queasy. We headed up that way Sunday as well, only went about 10 miles north of gorda though. We did some hiking and even found another dirt road. 😃

Heading home today. Always hate leaving. 😢😢

Weekend comes full circle with a return stop at Oreana in Santa Barbara. I nice Verdehlo with a late lunch.

Since this is Wayalife, thought I’d do a trip recap as the weekend was about much more than just wheeling.

Central Coast has a big place in the hearts of my wife and I. Just old enough to drink, we started visiting the regions wineries many moons ago and our love of wine began. Cambria and Paso Robles became our go-to spot. The rolling hills of Paso HWY 46 East is even where I proposed (lucky me, she said yes!). We now come up to celebrate our anniversary nearly every May. Together more than 20 years now and married for 14 of them on May19th, this trip is always fun for us.

An extra extended weekend, we thought it’d be cool to spend a day with WAL friends. As life would have it, some folks had things come up, but the trip would go on.

Packed up and heading out. Didn’t take too long to make our first wine stop in Santa Barbara. A sign of things to come.

Saturday… and good friends Panda and Crawler Kitty would join us. Off we went. First trip up with the Jeep, I actually found a dirt trail leading out to the first winery. It ate up some time, but so glad we did.

First stop, Tablas Creek. AMAZING French varietals. Our pourer grew up in French region where the wines were from and had the best French accent. Got great history and background. Tasted 10+ wines including some exclusives pulled from under the counter and back rooms. Think Kitty said it best “if the trip ended right now, it’d be a great day.”

But we did have a couple more stops, even a graveyard and ended the night with a great meal back in Cambria and a beautiful sunset.

The family enjoys wheeling, but Amy and I also enjoy road trips, exploring and just having fun. This trip to me was about that wayalife. A great trip and some cool memories. Thanks for joining us Rob and Cathy. Would be great to this all again….maybe even a two-day tasting so we can get more wineries in.
