Does 5.2 and 5.7 sound like the arms are equal length? I'll need to measure again!

Doesn't matter. The difference you see in the two would be there regardless if they are equal or not.

Thanks for the write up, looks easy enough and I prefer to do it myself, wondering if Lowes carries an angle finder in stock

The Lowes in our town carries them. I think they go for around $12.00 or near that.
