California or Bust : An Epic Trek Across the California Emigrant Trail

LOL!! I requested these months ago and just got the NPS auto tour brochures in the mail today.

Those are very cool. I need to get some of them. Are they like the AAA books that were available for states with all points of interest in them?

The 3 books underneath the brochures are ones that I've bought over the last couple of years. The ones on top are kinda like the AAA books you are referring to. They have cool points of interest in them that can be found along the interstate and highways but do not cover the actual route.

Sweet! Different subject. If you guys ever get east of Colorado Springs check out The Paint Mines of Colorado. I think you guys would appreciate the beauty.

Heads up, FYI, breaking news, Latest gouge, whatever you call it...

I have weaseled my way in. Strainger's heart (Susan) and I will be joining up in this adventure. I shamed Eddie into letting me go. It was a technicality really, but I pushed it anyway.

Awhile back,( Days? Months? Years? it's buried somewhere in my memory) I told Eddie how much I would like to trail along with him on something longer than an overnighter. He said, " Sure. Anytime."

Those of you that know me probably remember that more than once I had to get back home after spending only a day with you before a previous commitment forced me out of the fun.

Well, I called him on his "Sure. Anytime." It was probably just a kindly throwaway remark made to make me feel better at the time. But Eddie is a man of his word and is letting me in. I will be booking the reservations today.

p.s. I also found out that Eddie can be a softy. He hates to see grown men cry.

Booking now. Will let know via PM if there are any glitches. And again, thanks, my friend.

Every time this thread pop up, it makes me want to weasel my way in too. What an awesome adventure. I'm so close to having EVNY built up and ready for this long trip. Timing is just a bit off. Can I meet you in Missouri? LOL

Cool. Just to let you know, the last destination needs to be called in in order to get the discount. Also, I believe that you'll need to call in for our stay in Scotts Bluff, NE as well as our stay in Casper so that you can request a 3rd floor room there.

If you can take 2 weeks off and afford the gas, lodging and food expenses, let me know.

What If I can swing meeting up with ya somewhere in NE or WY??? Man, I'd have to get a hall pass from the wife, but would be great and I might be able to swing that. ;)

Are you in hotels the whole way, or camping as well?

We are staying in hotels most of the way but only because a better part of our route passes through farm land. Where we can camp, we will be but that'll be toward the end of the trip as we get out into the wilderness. If you can swing it and would like to join us for part of the trip, you are welcome to do so but, I may not be able to guarantee that you'll be able to book a room in the same hotels as us. The sooner you can figure it out, the better chance you'll have.

Awesome! Don't let people know the true Eddie, he's mean and gives opinions based off experience :cheesy: I really wish I could make this epic journey with y'all! It's a tough year for me and I'm saving for a few modifications so I can hopefully tag along on a Rubicon run. I'll definitely be following along though!
