I'm sure doing things like this had nothing to do with it...
But, about half way home, our Gladiator suddenly lost cruise control and our dash lit up with this...
And this...
And, in addition to traction control and ABS, we also got forward collision disabled and a SERV 4WD light come on as well. And, after checking the DTC's, this was the main culprit - C003A-1D Right Rear Wheel Sensor...
Essentially, our right rear wheel speed sensor was out or went bad for some reason. But, being that we could still drive normally, we decided to press on and fix it when we got home. And, after giving things a closer look, this is what I found.
Never a good thing to see a speed sensor cable looking slack when it shouldn't be. And, being that I couldn't see anything visible in terms of a break or damage, I decided that I needed to cut in and give things a closer look.
After removing the insulator, this is what I discovered...
From the look of it, the wires pulled right out of the plug and left the insulators in place. And, after a failed attempt to take apart the factory plug and fix it, I decided to just replace the plug with one that I had in my electrical kit.
Granted, if the actual sensor ever goes bad, it won't be a plug and play fix but with any luck, it won't be something I'll have to deal with for some time to come.
Anyway, our Gladiator is up and running again and without any dash lights on!
