Brute's Bronco Build

So cool, why did I think Icon built new reproductions and not restorations? Do they do both?

It's more of a resto-mod than a true restoration...the only thing original is the sheet metal. Even the door hinges are machined in house out of 316 stainless...but the title and vin are for a 1968 Ford Bronco

I was going to ask that. They are known for their FJs. I didn’t know they restored Broncos as well. Very cool!

They use to do YJ's years ago...but stopped. They also do one off special projects like old pick ups...I saw an VW Thing being retrofitted for full electric...and set up like a Baja bug...it was killer looking.

True...only limit is your imagination...and bank account.

Damn bank accounts. I’ve been planning/dreaming with a shop near me in Detroit on where to take my Scrambler. Sky’s the limit, but I thinks it’s going in a similar direction as yours. I’m keeping the sheet metal and stripping body and bringing it back up. I have a line on a 360 and some 44s out of a wagoneer and rebuild them. New frame to handle the extra weight and power. I hope to start this fall. Watching your build makes me want to start it tomorrow!

They're making good progress on that. Looks like hydroboost braking? Is that what's going on with that master cylinder?

What ever happened to your FJ?

We ended up selling it to help pay for the wife to go back to school. We’re going to have them do another for us in a couple years. I still have my 87 that has no motor. They do a pretty cool hybrid build using the body and interior of a 60/62 series and then mating it with a 97 FZJ80 chassis. They call em 140/142’s. And then of course do all their cool upgrades and a V8.

Yes it is...hydro boost assist, Brembo 6 piston front & 4 piston rear calipers, vented & slotted rotors
