I almost always go alone (family), or with one or two friends. I've never been on a "big" run (Jeeps), but I've seen a few. I like to explore new places, often historical, maybe stay ten minutes, maybe three hours - I don't like the idea of being on a "schedule" or having people wait for me if I say "go on ahead". I once stayed three weeks on a one week camping trip. "Trail BOSS" had a fit, implied I couldn't do that! I explained that it was my choice. Well, maybe that left bad feelings for me on the club ride thing. Had similar situations back in my bike riding / racing days. Drama.
I love camping, a Jeep show or classic car show and meeting the people, looking at the rides and such. I love home brewed solutions and fabrication, wether by choice or economics, think Rat Rod. Complex solutions to simple problems. [emoji12] Form Always follows Function! I digress.
If there was a Wayalife trip / day ride near Las Vegas, I'd definitely sign up. Would like to put faces to some of these names, look at Jeeps. Talk Jeeps. Listen to Jeeps. Drive Jeeps. Look at Jeeps. ( there I go again ).

God Bless you guys & girls.

Keep on Jeeping.

And Eddie, try to keep the tires on the bottom side.

A Southern Nevada meet is in the works so watch the upcoming events section............

To the original question, I prefer a smaller group 5-10 rigs but will go on larger group runs or even solo. I really don't like the huge sponsored events.

Most of my wheeling is done in small groups, but there are annual events I attend that attract 1000's. Events like EJS are great fun and you get to see so many different rigs, so many like minded people, vendors, manufacturers, old friends... Other events that have attendees in the hundreds are usually a chance to meet up with old friends from all over, fun games, live bands with a great bar, raffles, and such make for a super fun weekend.

I'll have to say, I went once by myself and hated it. Maybe I'm just not the "lone wolf" type, but I need a few other people to share obstacles, views and memories with. How can you tell people who weren't there just how tough a trail was or what the view was like from the top of a mountain?

I'm a medium group type of Jeeper. For me the whole experience is getting out doors, having fun, and meeting new people to share my hobby with. At times, even the large group setting is fun, just not every time. When I lived back east I went to a JK-Froum JK Fest east coast event that Piginajeep coordinated at Rausch Creek, in the pre-Wayaife days when Eddie and Cindy still owned JK-Forum. LOTS of Jeeps showed up, and as dull and boring the same trails every time can get at Rausch Creek, it was a blast. Had I lived out west back when the huge events like Rocktober Fest party in the desert were put on by Eddie, I'd have for sure done those types of events. That many vehicles on the trail at one time though would get old after awhile, so the small to medium sized group of 10 -15 Jeeps is perfect for regular outings. I haven't been one to wheel alone, but that is part of the reason I had my current Jeep so overbuilt, so that I can get out, explore the AZ back country, do mild wheeling alone, and wheel the hardcore stuff when I'm in a group without having a fear of breaking something major.

As I've gotten older and less sucessful the group i used to have to wheel with found no more time to do anything. Seems everyone has some sort of other obligation they have to do that day. I can't blame them really cause I understand it. Always something would get in the way of just getting away. Now I'm running solo. I've moved to a new area and don't know a sole. My work schedule limits me getting involved with alot of events ( how come nobody plans events on Monday's anyways?). It does make you more proficiant in the trade if you do it solo. I found that out last weekend when I spent a night on the side of the mountain in Beasley Knob OHV. It worked out but it wasn't my ideal situation. It also helps find out what my rig lacks. BIG TIME! No matter what I'll always find a way to go run the trails.

I definitely like to run in small groups when possible. It's more fun that way in my opinion, as you have people to talk to. Large groups sometimes turn into a hassle.

I like small groups. We have a group of 4 that we go with. All of our jeeps are well maintained and we all have the same mentality on the trail. We know what are getting with our small group and its easy to make a change on the fly to plans.

I'm usually with anywhere between 4 and 15 jeeps. I love the small to medium size groups mainly because it is more personal and you can keep moving as well as if we set up a small group we can do the difficult trails. However, there is something to be said about the big group. I go to Moab annually in March and so far the minimum group we've had has been about 14 rigs with the top being close to 30. But this next year we're going as a large group and about 4 of us will break off to hit BFE, behind the rocks, and rusty nail

Really?...

Ok let me answer that again of why I said both. I love when there is a big group to caravan with to the trail head. But then while on the trail I like the small group. Having a lot of people on the trail at once or in one big group takes forever to go anywhere.
