Getting ready to order Tires, front 44 and rear gears.
While i'm regearing the rear I would like to install a locker. I've been leaning toward elockers but not set yet. If I go with arb what compressor is needed to run properly? Is ected or elocker any good? If I go with ARB i can upgrade to 35 spline also correct?

I'm working with a budget and would love a pr44 but also looking at G2 core44 to save a grand any input on that axle?

I'm going 35's but want the option to go 37's down the road and was thinking 5:13? 07JKU auto

Thanks

IMO, 5.38's period. Esp with a 3.8
All that's needed to run a arb is the little arb compressor also its small enough to mount behind the right side rear tail light.

Given that the OP is looking at 44 axle and according to your profile you're running 60/80 5.38's don't make sense in a 44...ok for the bigger stronger 60/80 but I wouldn't go beyond 5.13 on a 44, even in a PR44.

To the OP, I have a PR44 and reused my rubi parts to save money. if you run ARB you do need an air compressor and yes you can run 35 spline. The new elocker seems pretty beefy and is what I plan to install when my rubi locker fails. I've seen both electric and air lockers quit on the trail but haven't seen either actually break.

When I bought my PR44 it was recommended to stick with 30 spline, I think because they are easier to get. I don't know how the G2 compares to the PR44 but I believe it's also made in the USA.

I have a friend with a Rubi locker and rcv's I found out today and will know how much tomorrow. I might go that route if I can get them cheap enough. If I go that route what lockers can you get to fit that housing if the rubi locker would fail?

AM I correct that the PR44 housing for the rubi parts are different than the normal housing?

I'd call Dynatrac and ask, I've heard yes and no. When I ordered mine from Dynatrac I told them my plans and they indicated I could order an ARB or eLocker when that time comes but reading the FAQ's on their site it seems the pumpkin is different for ARB and eLockers. But, ARB makes a replacement locker for the stock D44 locker so I'm not sure what the correct answer is.

I believe the difference in the pr44 housings is for 30 spline lockers or the 35 spline ARB. The 35 spline ARB requires a different bore size inside the housing center section.

I run core 44 both axles, 4:88s and elockers with 37" tires and a 4.5 lift. I'm very happy with all of these choices. I run 35 splines as well

Ordered tires and the front core 44 w/5:13 & e locker from the local 4x4 shop & gears and rear locker from northridge today.

Well I answered his question as I have had both 5.13's and 5.38's both with 37" and IMO 5.38 much better combination.

"Period"? Really? While I would agree that 5.38 is the better ratio to run, in a Dana 44, your pinion will be really really small. If you don't wheel hard, you should be fine but if you do, it WILL be a weak point.

I was originally going to go 4:88 open diff in my d30. A local shop cut me a deal I couldn't pass up on a core 44 with 5:13 and arb so I went that route. I'm running the 35's on the d30 with 4:10 now waiting on axle and it isn't as bad as expected but I'm sure we'll love the 5:13 especially when we hook our Rpod up to it. If I ever make the jump to 37's I will have to live with my gear choice.

5:13 and 37's is a good setup especially if you have a 3.6L motor. On a 3.8L, it'll still get the job done just fine and you'll have peace of mind knowing you have a stronger setup.

I have the lovely 07 3.8

It's a JEEP so we're never in a hurry. The longer it takes the more we can enjoy the WAYALIFE
