ATX Slabs Collecting Water

I just mounted my wheels a few weeks ago & have had no issues until now. It rained last night, I noticed there was puddle of water between wheel & the ring. I drove to work & there was still some water left in there. How do you guys deal with it? I'm thinking wipe dry with towels & then spray silicon grease, does this make sense?

I can promise you, there is probably no one more obsessive compulsive than me when it comes to jeeps and cleanliness.......but as much as you love those new Slabs and want to keep them looking sweet, that water is not going to hurt them one bit. I have run four different mfg's of Beadlocks over the years and its a common thing for all true beadlocks to hold water behind those rings. If you are as OCD as me and it's really driving you nuts, just carry a towel or car chamois/absorbing cloth and soak it all up out of there when it collects. Once you start to get some rock rash on those rings and see how much more character the wheels have, you will not mind water, dirt or scratches on them between washes. It's tough to deal with, I know :thinking: but you can learn to appreciate what will be proof of manly off road use of your rig :rock:

Thanks for the reassurance that these wheels will endure water, mud & rocks etc! Ding ding, my OCD had me picturing corrosion all day, I must of rechecked them 5 times at work...LOL the pics made me realize the reason I bought these wheels.

Yup, they hold water....it is a bit annoying.

When I wash it I simply soak up the puddles with a towel. No biggie. You get used to it.

On the other hand I believe these wheels are the sickest wheels for a JK.

Mine are getting rock rashed too.

One thing to watch out for when wiping them after wheeling them for awhile is the sharp edges along the inside of the rings! One of mine was sharpened up like a knife edge from the rocks. Pretty much sliced the towel I was using!

But as far as holding water, I just ignore it and am amazed at how far you can drive and still have centrifugal force holding in the water!

Thank you all for the advice, got the OCD Under control today...LOL.. Soaked up the water with a couple of shop towels.

Yep, I was not happy. That was me airing up after the very final day of wheeling on Drummond Island, Mich. Only the survivor dinner was left to do later that evening and then start the drive back to AZ. There was no way in hell my rig was spending two days on the hwy looking like that. There was one really pathetic carwash on the island, I basically ended up washing it with recycled muddy water. It drove me half crazy knowing it was not fully detailed for the journey, the slight twitch in my left eye has finally gone away :icon_crazy:

Just watch the salt with these bead locks. I towed mine through Vail Pass in the snow and the snow/salt that collected in the wheels sat for a full day and corroded the crap out of the wheels/rings where they contact the tire. The bolts and helicoils are also badly corroded. I washed them well with a soapy mitt but the salt had migrated far beyond what you can clean. I only discovered this mess months later when installing new tires. Never again in the salt!

Greg that was an awesome carwash, lots of pressure it even had an outside vacuum.
