Antenna Mount Location

Other than looks, any reason why I shouldn't mount an antenna here?


Or on the cowl piece?



The new radio came with the magnetic mount and a stick-on disk. I would put it on the roof, but it's the sky-onetouch.

I thought about that also. I have a light bar bracket. I also am thinking of using the ditch light bracket on the lightbar bracket.

I like the hood for the larger ground plane. It made a difference for CB, not sure if it matters as much on GMRS.

I put mine on the cowl a couple years ago after I ordered the wrong cage mount and had to make something work. I'm sure it's not ideal for distance, but a couple trips with heavy use in Moab and Sand Hollow and it seems to be fine.

As shown in your photo, this is where I mounted my mag mount



Antennas mounted on the side kept catching brush. That’s why i removed the factory AM/FM antenna
