AEV...pro's and con's

For reasons that are important to me, I have chosen AEV. My reasons are not the same as yours. If EVO had a turn key package that was less expensive than AEV I would be allover it. Especially if my dealership network supported the products.

And yes, I have read the entire thread. I appreciated your opinion as a fellow poster. What I don't appreciate is the position that you are taking as a thread overlord and an accusation that I am not normal. The questions that I posed are for someone that has to make a decision as to which product they choose for themselves. I have clearly stated that money is really not an issue for me as my total JKR will be close to 60K when I am done. If you do not have the means than I would recommend going a different route for sure.

Again. If there is a turn key solution from the dealership that is better than AEV, please let me know. If not, please respect my opinion as it is my own and not yours.

BTW. My 6 year old son uses emoticons.

You'll do we'll here. Probably make a lt of friends.

Enjoy your AEV stuff, but for the money, I'd put the 14K into a new EVO suspension with coilovers. Your factory warranty will still be intact and your ride will be significantly better. It is your Jeep and your money, so spend it as you want, but that is how I did it with my money.

You are getting bumpers and other things with the 14k, but building your Jeep is half the fun of owning it. Doing everything at once is a compromise because no company makes the best of everything.

I'd also like to add that I'm not an EVO fanboy either. My EVO suspension is the 3rd one that has been on my JKU in the last 2.5 years. So far EVO has been the best yet and I wish that I had done it first to keep from wasting money.

A lot of the stuff in this list is really nice but really, you would actually include "AEV Badging" and "AEV Serialized Build Plaque"? Like I said, you're a fanboy :clap2:

This list was taken directly from the AEV site. Please also note that I did not reply to your post. I replied to the OP.

Just quoting your contradictions for others to see easier.

It's funny that your first post is in response to a thread that is almost a year old, you are from Michigan an it's in regards to AEV.

Coincidence?

For reasons that are important to me, I have chosen AEV.

And really, that's all that should matter.

My reasons are not the same as yours.

You're right, my reasons are based on my experiences testing out different suspension systems on the JK for the last 7 years and on other Jeeps well beyond that. Your reasons are based on the fact that you just like it. And really, there's nothing wrong with that, you should always buy what you want, it is after all, your Jeep. :yup:

If EVO had a turn key package that was less expensive than AEV I would be allover it. Especially if my dealership network supported the products.

Funny, I do recall recommending a Rancho Sport kit being that it's so similar to AEV only a lot less but for some reason, you decided to bring up EVO instead. Spoken like a true fanboy - how predictable :rolleyes2:

And yes, I have read the entire thread. I appreciated your opinion as a fellow poster. What I don't appreciate is the position that you are taking as a thread overlord....

:cheesy: LOL!! At "thread overlord"!! OMG, that's about as good as "zone of influence". Hey buddy, here's a newsflash, this is a forum, you know, a place where people discuss things and that's all that I'm doing. Just because you don't appreciate what I have to say doesn't mean that I'm being some kind of "overlord". Don't like it, maybe you should go back to the AEV forum where everyone will agree with what you have to say. :rolleyes2:

...an accusation that I am not normal

Well, in all fairness, you are normal as far as AEV fanboys go. :yup:

The questions that I posed are for someone that has to make a decision as to which product they choose for themselves. I have clearly stated that money is really not an issue for me as my total JKR will be close to 60K when I am done. And I have posed my responses for someone that has to make a decision as to which product they choose for themselves. If money really isn't an issue for you as your total JKR will be close to 60K when you're done, more power to you. If I had that kind of money to spend, I personally would choose a different path but that's just me and that's what I've been saying. And, for those that do not have the means, I have been recommending a different route, you just choose to see it as some kind of criticism.

Again. If there is a turn key solution from the dealership that is better than AEV, please let me know.

Oh please, every dealership is a little different and most offer different turn key solutions. If that is all yours is willing to provide and you're okay with it, don't let me stand in your way. It is your money after all and you can spend it how ever you want.

...please respect my opinion as it is my own and not yours.

Right back at you! Please respect my opinion as it is my own and not yours. Just because you don't like what I have to say doesn't mean that I haven't been respecting anything you've had to say. Seriously, when have grown men become such pansies :rolleyes2:

BTW. My 6 year old son uses emoticons.

That's because your 6 year old is young and understands the importance of being a part of pop-culture.

Yes, but you chose to include it in your list as if it were something you were glad to pay for. :rolleyes2:

Please also note that I replied to YOUR post. This is a forum - MY forum for whatever it's worth so deal with it. Don't like it, don't have to be here.

Nah, he's just a normal guy who just signed up and just happened to dig up an old thread about AEV so that he could sing praises about their lift.

Wrong again. I am not singing praises about their lifts and the thread was on the first page so there was no digging involved. I thought this thread was about AEV as a company and also about their hoods, bumpers, etc.. I cannot comment on how well their lifts are, I also can't comment on the EVO lift either. I was simply stating that for my situation the AEV "package" which includes a lot of stuff like, bumpers, hood, winch, lift, wheels, tires, etc..., seems to be the best all inclusive one stop shopping package out there. I took some time looking at the EVO lift, it seems to me (casual observer) that they too have relocation brackets. Based on the positive feedback of others that are clearly functioning with all faculties, it would appear to me that the EVO lift is a better all around lift and less cost to boot. IF I was simply looking to do just my lift, this is the way I would go for sure. BUT, since this is my Jeep, I choose to get it all done at once. Not all of us have the time to wrench on vehicles for 2-3 hours a day. For me it is simply a matter of choice.

For the record, I personally do not believe that the AEV lift is better, it just happens to suit my needs and it's just one aspect of a really kick ass package. I hope this clears things up.

In my opinion AEV's lift kits are nothing special I have a 3.5" lift from them and I'm very unhappy with it. I know it's all personal preference but this lift kit is WAY over priced for what you truly get. Yeah it makes sense that you're getting it all at once but there is much better options than what AEV provides. I will be switching over to the EVO enforcer not because everyone has it, I want one of the best lifts out there and provides a comfortable ride. And AEV doesn't do it. If I were you I would consider something different and not waste money but if money isn't an issue than go right ahead

Just got off the phone with the EVO guy. I agree. Maybe I go with the EVO lift and get all the other AEV stuff. Only problem is that I have no other choice but to install it myself. EVO does not have installation partners out here and with out that they do not warranty like AEV. I appreciate your insight into this topic and I am looking forward to having a bad ass JKR. Pictures forthcoming.

If you do decide EVO and you have to do it yourself it shouldn't be all that hard as long are you are somewhat mechanically inclined and have a weekend to do it. Lifts aren't all that hard you just need the right tools and maybe if there's someone on here that lives by you see if they want to help I'm sure someone would

Honestly you really don't need to be mechanically inclined either. Just watch YouTube videos and read peoples write-ups. Sounds to me he just doesn't want to do the work himself. Which means if something breaks or goes wrong won't know what's going on down there. I like doing everything myself or with friends and buying peices at a time but that's just me. Buying everything at once and having a shop do it is another way. To each their own I guess.

The best part is you turned this into an AEV vs EVO thread.

Easy there pal, no need to get all worked up. Maybe you can get your 6 year old to show you how to use some emoticons.
Like I said, it's your Jeep and your money. Do whatever you want with both, I really couldn't care less. :yup:
