AEV Fuel Caddy with Beadlocks?

Caught the Bug
So I have finally sold my current wheel/tire setup and am ordering ATX Slab wheels along with 37" Nitto Trail Grapplers. Looking at the arrangement on the fuel caddy, I'm not sure if the 3.5" backspacing will work well with the fuel caddy. By chance is anyone running this setup? I'm thinking I may have to ditch the fuel caddy.

Couldn't you just add a spacer to the carrier? That what I have on mine (stock wheels at moment, but the spacer was needed to clear the 3rd brake light)
 
I had this setup (with Spyderlocks at the time, but it has the same BS). It works fine without spacers. The AEV carrier has some significant room for adjustment. Sinches up nicely and won't rattle but wobbles a lil' bit when you slam it shut. I was concerned about that if you were to use the setup at speed on the trail and ended up selling the carrier setup. That being said, I do know that it is SUPPOSED to support up to a 40" tire, so its possible I was worried about nothing.

Should be good!

I'm running the AEV Fuel Caddy with 38x14.50xR17 on BAD Wheels and it works great! I had to weld on new studs since my wheels are 8 on 6.5 bolt pattern but it's awesome to have that much fuel and be hidden behind the wheel.

Do you think you could make a 40" tire work with the fuel caddy? Any side pics of your setup? Thanks.

I couldn't say for sure, but I would highly doubt it. On their site it says it supports up to a 37" tire. My 35s only had about another 1-1-1/2 all the way around to the lip on the caddy. Sounds like squeezing a 38 on their is possible, but a 40 is probably just too big.

their site actually says the carrier will support up to a 40" tire....."Not only does it provide a strong, vibration-free and effortless means of carrying tires up to 40”, but it also accommodates numerous accessories such as our Hi-Lift Jack/Pull-Pal Mount, 10-Gallon Fuel Caddy, and a shovel."

Fuel caddy will not work with a 40" tire. The carrier itself will.

Right, but I think he was asking specifically about using a 40" with the fuel caddy.
 
I think that 38" is about as large as you can go. The 38" is pretty snug and the other thought or concern would be how much more weight the 40" adds. I have had to tighten my tire carrier plate a few times from weight and vibration. I can get some pics or the setup when I get home.
