Adirondack chairs--anyone made some? (not jeep related..obviously)

Caught the Bug
I know it's not jeep related, but there is a diverse group of talent on here so I thought I'd take a shot.

I'm looking for a good set of instructions to make some adirondack chairs for my backyard (at least 6 of them). I know there are plenty of patterns available on the internet, but what I am looking for is 1st hand knowledge of the pattern and the comfort of the design.

I'd appreciate it if anyone can steer me in the right direction. :thumb:

And que peanut gallery….

:cheesy:

I bought a kit of ready to assemble western red cedar chairs a couple of years back. I have been really happy with them. I'll try and find the company I ordered from. I seem to remember they offered a build your own kit as well.

Actually in all seriousness - Back in the day when This Old House was on I remember his carpenters show (can't remember his name) made some and it was a cool show with all the ins and outs including how to finish them.

My father-in-law made the wife and I a set and they're pretty comfortable. He's made quite a few of them and seems to like the design. I'll check and see what pattern he uses.

Ive made some tables and a headboard from plans on Anna White. I believe she has some on there. Frank is a close fan of hers too. He made a table that turned out pretty sweet. I would also try family handyman and taumans....might have spelled wrong.

Hey how did you know my secret? Ana White and Shanty-2-Chic are my go to's. :thumb:

MTG I haven't checked but try those sites they have easy to follow instructions and turn out great with the right tools. And a lot of patience.

I have always wanted to build a set of these. A cup holder of some sort is a must. I have a set of plans around here but haven't built the chair. Thought about using trex deck to keep the splinters out of my ass.

Yella wood has a pretty nice set of plans. They even show you the cuts. Super easy and if you sand them no splinters. I built 6 for Christmas presents
