A New 'Smart Rifle' Decides When To Shoot And Rarely Misses

I'm not a fan of putting my mission and my life in the hands of tech. Tech will eventually fail. It's just the nature of it.

We will always keep a manual back-up. Well trained riflemen will remain the deadliest weapon on the battlefield for the foreseeable future. A well trained sniper over watching my maneuver always made me feel a little better though!

Glad to see they made killing stuff like a video game!! Why the crap!! This means that any crazy dick (with 22,000) can become a deadly killer! I am a member of the NRA, and by all means a gun lover, but this should not be available to the public!! Besides that, where is the fun in target shooting if you can't miss? I like making a 500 yard shot because I know the ballistics of my bullet and can calculate windage, not cause I could just tell a gun to do it. This is just stupid!

+1. We have way too much emphasis on technology as a species and I think in the long run will inevitably be at a disadvantage because of it.

OMFG! That can make an assassin very profitable!

Right! That's what is so scary about this. It can turn your average joe into a skilled sniper/assassin
Very not cool. There is a video on you tube of them hunting animals in South Africa and hitting animals at 1,000+ yards first shot.

There's no fun/skill needed with that, cool and all but I think I would use those 22k towards some PR60's and coilovers lol

There is a lot more dangerous and scary stuff than this available to the general public.

A coworker of mine used to work on autonomous underwater vehicles used to patrol ports etc, and was telling me when he recently met with a former co-worker of his who now works for a company that make drones (helicopter, quadcopter, hexcopter etc) that an inventive friend of his has a drone mounted with a paintball gun and run that ran facial recognition software. Essentially how these work is you plug in GPS coordinates for the flight path an push go... in the demo the quadcopter took off and flew its designated route (which was nothing special), however along the way there were volunteers along the route, the camera recognized faces and took aim and fired paintballs at them along the route, hitting the "targets" multiple times....

Now combine that, with this.... and this is what a possible future foreign or domestic terrorist attack could look like...

And the fact that they can be fully atonamous, means they could set up any number of these on rooftops around a city, and at some predetermined time they turn on and execute their flight path.

Now thats what I call scary...

It appears that system can be added to any rifle with a picatinny rail and some mods to the trigger system.
Price would probably exclude your average bubba for now but not for long I'm guessing.
