Next on the itinerary was replacing the wiper motor. Another quick and easy job that got my Jeep back up to 100% for the run.
I swear, seems like I’m always dealing with a last minute fix of some sort before a Wayalife run - like the water pump, oil cooler, axle seal, and probably something else just weeks before a Wayalife run I was still able to make
First off, pull back the wiper bolt covers to reveal and remove these 13mm bolts.
Shimmy the wiper arms up and out.
Remove the 4 Torx bolts securing the cowl.
Then the 4 plastic clips over the cowl vent (These suck! Almost broke one of them.)
Then remove the cowl to expose the wiper motor. I elected to keep that plastic grille over the motor on because it meant ripping out two more pesky clips kind of sandwiched between the hood line, and I’m short and lazy.
Remove the two 10mm bolts securing the arms and slide it out either side. Here’s the old crusty motor that definitely got water inside.
New one bolted up to the OE arms.
Re-secure those 10mm bolts on both ends.
Cowl and wipers back on and bam, working wipers again!
