6 speed manual

Since you are not stating that you look forward to entering a rock crawling competition, and are just wondering if you will be ok on your upcoming trip to the mountains; i'm sure you will be fine.

My 2014 has a hill assist feature will that keep me from having to use the ebrake?

I've never used my parking brake, except to park. When your Jeep is in 4 low, you can start and stop while in gear and not pushing in the clutch. This is a very nice feature if you needed to stop on an incline.

I''ve got a lot to learn before trying to rock crawl. Getting out in the wilderness is first. knowing myself like I do I'm sure I'll be breaking stuff soon

The rocks we have out west will require the use of a hand brake, Unless you gun it.

I've always wheeled with a manual. It does make it harder, and you will stall occasionally, but that's all part of the game. I actually find myself riding the brake before and after large obstacles to prevent the truck from "lunging" forward. This helps prevent stalling a lot. Also I never use my e brake. In 4lo you just leave your foot on the brake while letting out the clutch, it will start to pull hard and that's when you can let off the brake ( steepest hills and rocks without even rolling back at all.). Yeah. I think you'll. be fine

Who's this Manuel people keep wheeling with? :idontknow:

Auto here. I'll leave the stick to the sports cars.

LMAO!!! I have a 6spd. Searched high and low. Had to damn near special order it. I just like driving a stick. Never took a manual wheeling though... will be fun next month!

Sent from my phone while I should probably be getting work done

6 speed here and no problems offroad. Like others said you do tend to stall sometimes (i do in rock gardens but i feel my gearing and 37s doesnt help that tho). I just love stick and thats what I wanted, never had the chance to wheel with auto tho which I am sure I would enjoy, but I enjoy the control esp when in 4 lo.

Forgot to mention- one of the original reasons I liked a manual trans, was because I venture off into the wilderness solo on a regular basis and though I haven't needed to yet, if my battery dies, hopefully I can get it push started. This happened to my dad in our family Isuzu trooper. He wound up using a come-along to winch it up a hill an was able to bump start it and make it out! A lot of work, but my parents made it home!

i was told wheeling with an automatic was cheating :D

i took advantage once of pop starting the jeep, when after wheeling, my starter bolts had vibrated out? :grayno: luckily, i was parked at the top of a hill, taped up the starter contacts, strapped the starter to the motor mount, pop started it and made the 2 hour drive home (remembering not to shut it off at the pit stop), replaced the starter later that evening

LOL! It is, just like using lockers. But of course, lockers are only "girls or kids". Badasses do it open

Well then! what if I have an auto, with no lockers and still semi stock (rubi tires, no lift) but I take almost every hard line that jeeps on 37's and lockers take? (Even though I might get stuck at times but I blame not enough ground clearance.)
