I have been looking for a few years now for an early flat fender Willys.
This weekend I found one on Facebook for sale!
Well... It is more of a large pile of parts at this point... But hopefully it will be running soon!
The old timer that owned it got it in eastern Washington back in the late 80's. He drove it a little and then tore it apart to replace the brakes and springs in the early 90's.
Things happened and he never was able to get it put back together.
It came with a 1953 military trailer FULL of parts. Many of them new!
I think I have 7 or 8 6.5-16 tires that are all new. Extra wheels... Extra fenders... Extra fuel tanks...
I was worried about rust when I went to look at it. Outside of a small hole in the floor on both sides it isn't bad. The wood filled supports under the cab are also a little crunchy... But easy to fix.
The biggest downside is that someone pulled out the original flat head (L-134) and installed a F-head (F-134). Because that engine was made for the CJ-3B and newer high hood setups they had to cut a hole in the hood for it to close. Because of the engine swap a few other things are off. The factory fuel/vacuum pump was removed because the engine mount was in the way. It has vacuum wipers so not sure how that is going to work. They also replaced the tall carb with a shorter one from a 60's pinto.
Should be a fun little project. I doubt it will ever be show room quality... But it should be good enough to drive around!
