300 Horsepower Hurricane Turbo 4 May = No 3.0L Diesel for the JL Wrangler

My dad has the Grand Cherokee diesel, and it's a fantastic engine. A turbo 4 is superior to a diesel, but it isn't superior to a turbo diesel. Modern diesels also don't smell at all. If you want to mod your jeep, with armor, big tires, big axles, etc....turbo diesels can't be beat. They aren't nearly as sensitive to weight as their gasser counterparts.

99% of modern diesels are turbo diesels w common ramps and UHP injectors.......the day of the bone rattler is long dead in modern vehicles!:yup: The 4 and 6 cyl FCA engines are such engines......only problem is when they break down, they are a headache to repair:naw:

With a twin scroll turbo they can make that turbo 4 very good. My mini cooper I just got rid of had a twin scroll turbo motor that was only tuned to 200 hp. It had 95% of its torque available at 1250rpm which was over 200 ft lbs right off idle.
If they can replicate that with a 300hp version it would be amazing for the jeep.
The only problem is when they ramp the power up on these 2.0's the off idle power and torque usually suffer. Mercedes has a 2.0 making 376 hp in one of the AMG hatch SUV things but its torque curve sucks and it lags for days.

Hopefully jeep does well with this and makes it as good as it can be.

I think the diesel option will be better for our community that loads up the jeep with steel armor and 1 ton axles but for the average crowd I think the turbo 4 might be the best mpg and engine for them.

I've always wanted to turbo the pentastar, but this sounds like would be really fun with a manual. Now if only they'd offer it in the Renegades, that thing would really fly.

Eeewwwwww

One option Jeep is over looking for the new Jeep
