2024 JLR

that sucks, what layer of the Windshield Defense were you on?
So, good question, I recently peeled off the first layer after a year. There are two layers left. Not sure if three layers would have made a difference or not.

I will likely buy windshield defense again. It has protected her windshield from several hits so far. I think the speed of this hit must be the factor that made the windshield crack…

I'm guessing since it's only an AM/FM antenna, you could do regular windshield and use an AM/FM antenna you can have on the dash.
So, this is exactly what I was wondering about. Does the antenna do anything other than provide AM/FM radio? Does it have anything to do with linking her phone to her console via CarPlay?

I’m wondering if we can just ditch the antenna altogether…

Bummer! All I’ve seen is the factory replacement and reprogramming of the integrated antenna at the dealer. You could definitely save a buck with Jeeep’s idea.

I can’t help but believe this is all to rack in more service numbers at Jeep dealers, those windshields are $1,800 🤬
Ok, good feedback, yea I’m wondering if I can skip the antenna or if it will mess anything else up not having it. Noob JL owner here…I need to run through the owners manual again.

the radio should be fairly easy to pull out, unplug the antenna and test for CarPlay.
CarPlay connects via Bluetooth so it should continue to work fine without the antenna but then again, it's Stellantis designed

What Joel said. I never use AM/FM so if you guys don't either it's definitely worth a shot.

Surely the phone linked to the console via Bluetooth, which does not need a large antenna.
