17"x7.5" wide rim that would work with JKS J-Connect 3" lift

Hi everyone, new to the forum, been watching Wayalife since I got my Jeep in the summer of '23. I have a '24 sport s JL 2door with a 3" JKS J-Connect lift. Currently have KO2 tires in the stock size 245/75 R17 on Outlaw Wheels Railcar 17"x8.5" with 10mm offset. I'm having trouble finding a 17"x7.5" rim with the right backspacing to work with my lift kit. I got the railcar rims when i got the lift as the stock rims wouldn't work without spacers. I'm looking to stay at the current tire size and would prefer to run a 7.5" wide rim instead of a 8.5" rim. Are there any options available with my setup? I know everyone goes with bigger tires, this setup is working great with what I do offroad and i've learned there is compromises in any changes you make to the Jeep, my Dana 30 up front appreciates the lighter tires. Contemplating on the next set of tires just taking it up 285/70R17. Thank you for your help!

Why do you NEED a 7.5" wheel?

What's so bad about spacers? I ran stock Rubicon wheels (which are 17x7.5) with 1.75" spacers for years without issue - wheeled hard too.

Why does everyone think the 30 will immediately explode? The smaller carrier when re-geared is the weak point. I've been running 35s for years on it now without issue - and again wheeled hard.

You have a 3" lift. Get 35s with a 17x8.5 wheel which will have the proper offset/backspacing. Again can't think of why you'd want or need a 7.5" wide wheel. Only so much room for enough backspacing.

Hey thanks for taking the time to provide some feedback. This is my first Jeep, looking to keep it as minimal as I can and accomplish what I want on the trails, just my style I guess, people go nuts on these Jeeps, that's what is great about them. if I do want to get into more technical trails that this one can't handle, i'll probably get an older Jeep and build it for that. It's a Sport S so I got rid of the all weather tires for sport s stock sized KO2s. The JKS lift I got IMO is basically a Mopar lift with more lift components for similar cost. My understanding the Mopar lift 2" is spec'd for a Rubicon and it gives a 2dr sport s around 3".

Don't need 7.5" rims, just wanting to see if there are any options available that would work with my setup. Looking to stay away from spacers if I don't need them, if i can skip adding extra components then great. Concern I have is with the tires i have now on the 8.5" rim they get stretched out on the wider rim, they don't have the roundness on the sidewalls like they did on the stock rims. Don't mind the scraping up that my rims get, but i think that's partially because the tire isn't pushing out as much on the 8.5" rim and adding any protection to the rim.

I'm looking to keep this Dana 30 for the long haul and can only imagine keeping 20-30 pounds off each wheel will make some kind of a difference after 100k miles. Agreed on the re-gearing being the weak point, probably from one of Wayalife's videos. I ran trails up in Reno when the jeep was bone stock, people thought i was crazy or was going to have issues. I got to learn just how capable it was, saw the easier time I had on some trails that people with 35x12.5 tires got sloppier on, i think there is something to the narrower tires putting my pounds per square inch on the road, of course that's going to keep me from floating on snow.

23K miles on the Jeep so far haven't "needed" 35's

Thanks,
-Luke

Hey guys I have a question I'm hoping you could help out on if you know -

17"x7.5" wide rim that would work with JKS J-Connect 3" lift

Thank You,
-Luke

There is going to be little to no weight change going from a 8.5” wide wheel down to a 7.5” wide wheel.

Keep the 8.5” wide cause it will allow the tire not to bulge/crown in the center and help provide more stability when on road and off road with eh wider footprint.

but the axles, they can't support the extra wheel or tire weight
