12' Gecko Build

Welp.... the jeep is officially ready for its first test drive. Gonna wait for the day light to make sure I'm actually going to clear my garage door but damn I can't wait to drive this thing again.
Once I get some testing and adjustments done I'll post up my experience with getting these fusion axles installed myself
Can’t wait to hear your thought on them

Anyone got any pro tip on getting the brakes bead after having the lines open for months?
Did the conventional 2 person method quite a few times and my pedal is still just going straight to the floor.
Just wanna take it for a test drive 😪

You’re getting all the bubbles out each time and it’s still going to the floor? Started with the passenger rear?

I was fairly confident in all of them but yeah its super soft on to the floor. Gonna try to hit them again tonight see if more air worked its way out.
Yeah started back right, back left, front right, front left

Had the wife help again
Press and hold the pedal
Crack the bleeder
Close the bleeder
Release, repeat.

5 times per corner. The driver front had like 2 tiny bubble come out but all 4 corners look good. Clean fluid no air.

Start it up and its still just mush to the floor

don't pump, ABS systems do better dripping out which is why the Motive Products 0103 Power Bleeder works well.

It keeps the reservoir at a constant pressure and with enough brake fluid in the Motive, you don't run the chance of running the reservoir too low and introducing more air into the system, no need to have the second person pumping the brakes.

If anything, they can monitor the brake fluid in the Motive and also the pressure, which ... when you first hook it up, the instructions say to not fill it but pressurize and make sure there are no leaks in your braking system

Just ordered the motive power bleeder we will see how that works.

Does pressurizing from the top work into the ABS as well? I have a feeling I've got air up into the ABS as well if It sat open for that long and the pedal is so soft.

sometimes but before I bought a diagnostic reader that will trigger the ABS, I would find a vacant or very little traveled road, get up to about 45mph and slam on the brakes to trigger the ABS, do the bleed and ABS trigger once more.

You probably did, I had to bleed the whole system once when I was swapping axles on a JK. Was open for just a weekend if I recall, and the pumping made it worse. Hopefully that power bleeder does the trick

I bought the power bleeder and I ended up buying an OBDII adapter so I can run the ABS bleed on Jscan. Hoping that will at least get it drivable.
My end up just going to the dealer after that for a full flush and bleed if I'm still not happy

did you get the Chrysler brake reservoir adapter cap?

Welp got the motive power bleeder. Did the standard bleed all looked good. Ran the JScan ABS bleed. Did another manual bleed. Ran a second JScan ABS bleed and another manual bleed.

The pedal is a little bit better but its still pretty dang soft to the floor 😪

did you do the pressure test?

Also wondering if the booster rod needs to be adjusted @WJCO could help better with this part of it

Yeah ran the pressure up to 15 and it held steady for a good 5 mins.

There is a fusion axles Facebook page and it seems to be a common theme. Some swear by going with a J8 master, some say it took them running the abs JScan like 30 times and it finally firmed up and some have success just taking it to the dealer for a factory flush and bleed.

I'm gonna keep repeating the abs JScan bleed and power bleed like 10 more times and see if I can get some firmness in the pedal but I may end up trying the dealership route once I feel I can safely get it out of the garage and it not end up in my neighbor's yard

did you remove the master and pre-prime it since is sat for so long?
