Caught the Bug
Not a big update, just spent a few minutes installing my new Factor-55 Splicer winch thimble . While the thimble I made works just fine, I got this as a gift from my fiancé. Plus it sure looks a LOT nicer, and the rope protection it offers by in closing the line inside the thimble is a huge plus in my opinion being the Texas sun can be pretty harsh. Here are some pics.

And finally, the very minor face lift shot:

Well, Over the weekend I finally decided to call it on the springs. Jackal01 and TDOUGHERTY81 have been giving me shit long enough :cheesy:. I ordered up a set of ACTUAL 4" plush ride springs to replace the 3" springs northridge sent me with my 4" DD long arm kit by mistake back in Oct 2015. :naw: I wish I would have known better at the time. :banghead:

Nice! It'll be awesome to finally have the clearance you initially paid for! :cheesy:

I was able to sneak in a half day on Friday at work. I decided to take advantage of the free time and spend the rest of afternoon installing my Rockstar skids, and the 4" plush ride coils.

Here is how the jeep sat before starting

2017-02-04+17.54.03.jpg

As you can see, the front spring perch was right about 13" from the axle

2017-02-04+17.54.20.jpg

I started with the driverside Rockstar Skid, here it is all trimmed up

2017-02-04+17.55.05.jpg

And back together.

2017-02-04+17.55.26.jpg

By this time, my wife was home from work early so here are some action shots of trimming up the passenger side

With the rockstars installed, it was time to swap out the 3" springs for the 4" plush rides. And what do you know... they are right about 1" longer :cheesy:

Front comparison:

Rear comparison:

2017-02-04+17.57.31.jpg

And here is what the jeep looks like now. All buttoned up.

As you can see, the 4" Evo Plush Ride springs are almost exactly that, 1" more than the 3" Evo Plush Ride springs... who would have guessed. :thumb:

Thanks guys! After cycling the suspension though, It seems my shock bodies are too long for the rockstars & 3" bump Combo. So I ordered some 4" rear bumps. :idontknow:

ST. Pattys Day Wheeling

As much as my wife and I enjoy the big Texas group runs, sometimes its nice to meet up with a smaller group of good friends, who also happen to also be a bit more experienced on the trails to help kick things up a notch or two. Lucky for us, that is exactly what we were able to do this past weekend.

We made a plan to head out to west Texas to an area known as "Trees Ranch" with 6 other Wayalife members.

Unfortunately, Half of the members attending (myself included) had our dogs in the jeep, and it was brought to our attention that the property owner does not allow any pets on his land do to his live stock ranch. So with determination to wheel and heavy hearts, we set course 3 and a half hours northwest to our Plan-B, Hidden Falls Adventure Park.

Here are a few shots my wife took around Camp; and some of the wheeling we did that day

Thanks again Granite_Head! :thumb:

Bummer that you weren't allowed to go to Trees with your dog in tow but it looks like you ended up having a great time just the same at your Plan B destination of Hidden Falls. Great pics :thumb:

Thanks Eddie! Trees is still on the destination list! I'll get out there sooner or later.

Looks like fun! You didn't lose the Yeti, did you?
