No it is a 4lb mini sledge hammer. Steel head, the shortness of it is why I say mallet but it is a steel sledge hammer.

The only thing with the gear puller is the space around the pitman arm doesn't really leave me anywhere to crank it down. I could definitely, and I will, use one if I have to remove the whole arm.

I put a slightly smaller size nut over the cut bolt and tightened a c clamp to put some pressure on the bolt while I went back at it with the sledge and pickle fork. Still just as stuck. I am gonna go for the heat tomorrow.

I've just been trying to avoid buying more tools if I didn't need to. Tried the c clamp already. The bolt looks bent which might be why it isn't dropping. If I cut it off at the bolt and arm bore it should release it?

Oh no I have been using a mallet not the ball-peen. Lol. I have been two handing the mallet swings on the pickle fork. I have a 10lb sledge I will be taking to it today.

So after about 40 minutes with a cold chisel and 4lb mallet I got the nut off the drag link bolt. The threads on the nut were toasted. Now I just need to get the damn drag link to drop. Was out there hammering and pickle forking(?) for about an hour now and the damn thing still won't drop out...

I've seen some people have some pretty good luck with bite bolts. So I have some coming tomorrow and I will try that first. I don't personally own a cutting tool and not sure it's in my budget at the moment. So hopefully I won't have to go that route.
