    Snorkel? Or Snorkel!

As long as the cross sectional area of the snorkel intake is larger than the inlet to the airbox, then there won't be a power loss. One of my local club's members fitted a 1st generation AEV he bought 2nd hand (suits a 3.8) to his 3.6 and it apparently was restrictive. The 2nd gen AEV has a...

My JK, and one of my other toys.....

One of my hobbies is operating a couple of retired RAAF DHC-4 Caribous through the Historic Aircraft Restoration Society. We were down in country town Tuesday and Wednesday filming a commercial for a new car. Had to take my tools out to fix something and thought I'd get a shot of the JK and the...

Australian Jeep Jamboree - some pics.

Got home yesterday from the Australian Jeep Jamboree. First time on some more serious tracks with the JK, and it impressed the heck out of me just where a stock(ish) JK will go. The weekend was held in a small town called Rydal in New South Wales, just on the western slopes area of the Great...

    ESC Malfunction Warning Light Question

Hey, guys.... OK.....so I've knocked the steering wheel a little off centre while out climbing hills (I'll post up some pics in the trip area :) )....wheel is a couple of inches to the right. Car still tracks and drives exactly as it did before, but I now have the ESC Malfunction light on...

Olive Drab Green JKU - Prep Work Advice

Just a suggestion here, but you're overthinking this.....forget the bedliner stuff. We used to repaint our military vehicles anytime they started looking average from scratches and bush damage. Scuff the exterior with sand paper to remove the shine, clean thoroughly with wax and grease remover...

Smittybilt XRC Atlas Front Bumper - which winch?

Whichever brand of bumper you chose, my personal preference would be a bumper that mounts the winch low, inside the bumper, rather than on top of the bumper and blocking airflow to the grill. Though in reality it probably doesn't make a great deal of difference, I also like that the winch pull...

    TOTL innovations hood?

They appear to be pretty strong, I've seen pics of people standing on them. This one survived a roll over with only a few scuffs, apparently. I like that they have water drain channels built into them.

    Remember D-Day June 6th 1944

Interesting aircraft recently discovered......someone researching the history of an old C47 found it was the lead aircraft on the first drops of D day. Aircraft is heading to Texas to be restored in it's D-day colours.

Pic is not my actual watch, but this is my favourite watch.... Citizen Eco-Drive dual time. I work in aviation and keep the second hour hand set to UTC time.

    Drake door handle inserts

I noticed a set of them at what I thought was a good price when I ordered some other stuff a few months ago....so I included them with the order. Took me about 30 minutes to fit all three (JK) taking my time. They fit nicely and I like the look. They come with Torx headed stainless fasteners...

Wrangler Competitor - The Hummer H4 : Yea or Nay?

Kind of hard to compete with a vehicle that has the incredible aftermarket support of the JK. They'd need to change some of the styling to sell to me.......I really don't like the H2 and onwards. The first ones were and are still cool, just too darned big (wide). lol, hey, GM'll stuff it up...

    Griffin radiator

Have you been playing in mud any time recently? Check the radiator fins for mud stuck between them. In Australia, we can also get this problem running through Spinifex Grass...the seeds get stuck in between the cooling fins cutting down efficiency. Do you have a large winch, lights and brush...

    Arb air leak???

There is an internal O ring.....guy's I've known with ARB leaks that blow air out of the axle vent have had trouble with this O ring.

    Essential Armor?

If you're worried about the axle centres, Rancho makes a skid (bolt on) that allows you to slide on the centre without damaging the casting....I believe AEV (?) also makes similar for the rear. Not sure how useful these are, I have no personal experience. I'm planning on an skid that...

    No Winter Downunder......

Was close to 100F today, no winter down here in Australia....perfect day for some trails up in the back country. New springs and shocks worked great. This area is in a state forest next to a dam about 2 hours from home.

    Storage Solutions

Yep, me too.....I found an on-line special on two heavy duty equipment bags, they worked out great for carrying and organising gear. One for recovery gear, one as a tool/spares bag.

Smittybilt XRC Atlas Rear Bumper - Fitting

I fitted up an XRC Atlas rear bumper and tyre/jerry can/highlift carrier. Instructions are pretty good....hardware all seems good quality, with the exception of the two small rubber snubbers.....needs two people to fit, its heavy! The bumper itself fitted straight on, no issues getting hte...
