JL hood latches on a JK

Sorry for the necro-post, but I wanted to see if you folks had any insights for me. I decided to do this mod (no drill) on my 2012 JKU and everything went fine, except the tab from the lower clasp assembly that hangs over the fender will not sit flush. I made sure the tabs were completely...

    Camshaft Position Sensor Oil Failure

It's either got to be a coincidence or a design flaw/engineering quirk. I certainly hope my driver side sensor is good - I don't want to go through the process to access it, although I've gotten pretty good at it. 😅 The big question is whether I put a Mopar one on or a parts store brand. On the...

    Camshaft Position Sensor Oil Failure

For anyone still curious, I though I'd provide a quick update. After replacing the sensor a couple days ago, I didn't find any new leaks or weeping on the harness. I'd say so far, so good. What an odd failure. After inspecting the old unit, I couldn't find any immediately obvious causes for the...

    Camshaft Position Sensor Oil Failure

Yeah, I've heard about this on the NAG1 transmission wire harness adapter. ATF traveling up the harness into the cabin and into the computer. Bad times. I have a replacement part and will be swapping it in. Kind of a weird failure mode, but I guess it's possible.

    Camshaft Position Sensor Oil Failure

No problem. I guess that means this isn't an unheard of failure mode for these sensors. As best I can tell, looking at the valve cover through the gaps, the driver side isn't seeping yet. I'd do both, but I really don't feel like taking off the intake manifold again! 😅 I do think that this was...

    Camshaft Position Sensor Oil Failure

About a year ago, I did a little overhaul on my 2012 JKU. New plugs, PCV valve, and valve cover gaskets, among other things. I followed all installation and torque specs to the "T" but recently noticed some oil seepage. It appears to be coming from my passenger side camshaft position sensor...

Tire or Drivetrain noise? Post Re-gear on 2012 JKU

You're not wrong. I'm reaching out to him now. ;)

Tire or Drivetrain noise? Post Re-gear on 2012 JKU

You're correct. I'll probably end up reaching out. I was just looking for a second opinion first so as not to go through the trouble, or waste his time, for nothing. Not that I'm saying the forum members' time has no value. ;) I did update the OP with a better recording.

Tire or Drivetrain noise? Post Re-gear on 2012 JKU

Darn, I think something got lost in translation when the recording was uploaded to Facebook. I wonder if there's a better way to do it. For all the info I provided, I forgot to mention I performed a 5 tire rotation about 400 miles ago. I don't think they changed the tire position because I...

Tire or Drivetrain noise? Post Re-gear on 2012 JKU

EDIT: Updated recording with one that actually has decent audio Hey folks, I recently had a local, reputable shop re-gear my 2012 JKU for me. The owner said that the gears set up really nicely (I did get all Spicer parts, which probably helped). In addition to the front and rear R&Ps, the front...

Poor-Looking Gear Oil from Dana 44 Rear Axle

Thanks for that. I had a feeling what I was doing was overkill, I just didn't know it was that degree of overkill. 😂

Poor-Looking Gear Oil from Dana 44 Rear Axle

Thanks, folks, I appreciate it. I'm used to seeing something vaguely honeyish when draining the diff. I expected to take the differential cover off and find more missing teeth than a South Dakota resident (kidding!). 😅 Anyway, I was relieved to see relatively normal wear inside. Now that I got...

Poor-Looking Gear Oil from Dana 44 Rear Axle

Hey folks, I have a 2012 JKU. I've owned it for 16 months and lavished all kinds of maintenance on it, of both the preventative and overdue variety. That's a long list for another thread. Anyway, I'd already changed the front and rear axle gear oil twice on this rig, the most recent being about...

Odd Wear on End of Camshaft

Hey folks, I've taken off my left side valve cover to check out the situation on my valvetrain. I've got some noise and slight metal wear showing in my oil, so it's time. I'm already prepared to replace the rocker arms and lifters, even the camshafts, but I found something that's kind of...

Adjustable Rear Control Arm Lengths for 3.25" Lift

I replaced my stock unit with a Hellwig sway bar. I'm actually pretty pleased with the quality of the piece overall. It has tightened up the handling and ride a decent amount. After taking the Jeep to work today, I'll make a tentative statement that bringing the wheel base back to where it...

Adjustable Rear Control Arm Lengths for 3.25" Lift

I figured I'd follow up and let everyone know how things went. Thread updates aren't always a guaranteed thing. 😅 This weekend, I got the adjustable upper and lower rear control arms installed. Since most folks seemed to suggest 1/4-1/2", I split the difference at 6/8" in additional length on...

Adjustable Rear Control Arm Lengths for 3.25" Lift

It's a beautiful 72° out, great weather for wrenching on my Jeep. I was doing a sanity check before correcting the rear trackbar position as suggested earlier. Here's a picture from the RC instructions. Now I'm confused which position is correct.

Adjustable Rear Control Arm Lengths for 3.25" Lift

Great information in this post, thanks @wayoflife ! I will fix the trackbar position this weekend - what you're saying makes sense. I think the directions for that relocation bracket weren't very clear. I'd be very happy to not throw an additional $90 at the alignment shop. :) They already did...
