What was done to your rig this week?

Well, update on the Arcus. Turns out Amazon sent the JL version instead of the JK version I ordered. The only difference is the winch plate, so when the new one arrives, I'm just swapping that out and sending it all back, so we should be good to go in a week or so. Of course that's assuming...

What was done to your rig this week?

I just confirmed on my cousin's 2018 that the winch plate is out of spec and is too wide. Hopefully Rugged Ridge will ship a new one, but if they don't, we'll cut it down. I hate breaking the powder coat, though. So we'll see how good their CS is. (Or how bad it is.)

What was done to your rig this week?

Well, went to install the Rugged Ridge Arcos bumper today. The good news: The bumper fits and looks great! The bad news: The winch plate was too wide to fit into its place between the frame rails by about 1/4", or slightly less. So I'll be calling RR tomorrow to see if this one is out of...

What was done to your rig this week?

I installed a Rancho Rock Gear differential slider plate on the rear of my 08 JK. For 13 years, I've worried about hitting a rock just right and peeling open the rear diff. After seeing some guys knock the shit out of these on their Jeeps, I added one to the front of my JL last year and it has...

What was done to your rig this week?

Was there a kit for that conversion? Very nice!

    Catalytic converter

I got a cat code on my 2008 and used my ProCal to clear it. I've had to do this 2 times now and the code reappares after about 1500 to 2000 miles. The engine runs like new and has 152k on it. Funny thing is that the code only pops up when my wife drives it. It is a manual, so I'm wondering...

    RR Arcus Front Bumper Question

They are huge. But I've seen it without the winch guard and they look better that way, IMO. I could also eventually cut those down and just use the holes. I'll probably never use the hooks themselves except to hang a trash bag on them when stopping on the trail for lunch. Lol.

    RR Arcus Front Bumper Question

Of course, now that I've said that I'll probably smash the crap out of this one! Lol!

    RR Arcus Front Bumper Question

Yep. Going for light weight and getting the winch tucked away. It has ridden for years on a plate on top of the stock bumper, which has faded and aged. Plus, my wife likes the Arcus and daily drives this Jeep. Besides that, I've never bashed a stubby bumper in 30 years of wheeling. Only...

    RR Arcus Front Bumper Question

Saw the Rugged Ridge steering component skid plate. They claim it works with all RR bumpers, but the Arcus is relatively new, I believe. https://ruggedridge.com/p/rugged-ridge-skid-plates/rgr-18003-30/

    RR Arcus Front Bumper Question

Does RR or anyone else make a front skid plate that works with the Arcus front bumper? I'll be installing that bumper today or tomorrow but I would like something that covers the area where the stock plastic cover goes, over the Rubicon swaybar disconnect. I may have to fabricate something but...

    AEV 2.5 vs Quadratec

My Jeeps are not trailer Jeeps. They do it all, from daily driving to frequent off-roading to playing in the snow or sand dunes. We drive them to the trails, whether 2 hours or 23 hours away, in a very wide variety of trails and locations, so everything is a compromise. I expect them to be...

    AEV 2.5 vs Quadratec

Yes, and thanks! I have to thank my nephew for that. He let us use his factory lift. He owns 4 Piston Racing. He even went in there very early this morning and took a race car off of it and rolled a big tool chest out for us with everything we needed. Made for a MUCH easier installation and...

    AEV 2.5 vs Quadratec

Installed the AEV lift today! It went pretty smoothly with the exception of a few bolts here and there that reminded me they had not been loosened since the spacer lift was installed about 11 years ago, or so. It gave it a nice lift and it rides better than I anticipated. The handling is...

    AEV 2.5 vs Quadratec

Yep. I've got the AEV extensions, so it probably isn't far off its original stance. I have always wanted just a little bit more. I stuck with it so long because it drives really well, on and off road, and actually matched up pretty well with the RS5000X shocks, as far as handling goes. But...

    AEV 2.5 vs Quadratec

I have the exception, Lol! The AEV spacer lift. I think it wound up giving about 1.5 inches, at least in the front. The rear probably got the full 2" or maybe 1.75. I think you are right, too. The 2" lift on my JLUR probably yielded 3" or close to that. The AEV 2.5 on my cousin's JK looks...

    AEV 2.5 vs Quadratec

Maybe they're taller than advertised! I would wish I tried them except my cousin tells me every day how much he loves the AEV. I'm hoping to get access to my nephew's lift next week to throw it together. I love your installation videos, btw!

    AEV 2.5 vs Quadratec

I looked hard at that one, as I've got several Rancho products and have a high opinion of them. I also like the 9000 shocks. The main reason I didn't go with it was that I wanted the little extra lift of a 2.5. I've seen the Rough Country and AEV 2.5's next to the 2.0 and it appears a little...

    AEV 2.5 vs Quadratec

LOL! What your wife said sounds like something my wife would say! Thanks for the feedback! I spoke to my cousin again today and he told me he's beyond thrilled with his AEV and he drives it quite a bit every day. He went back over the things he liked about it on the trail in Moab, too. He...

    AEV 2.5 vs Quadratec

Thanks for all the advice! I appreciate this forum's members and Eddie so much! I went ahead and ordered the AEV today with the Bilsteins and add the geometry correction brackets and 1/2" Teraflex front coil spacers to offset the winch weight. While the consensus is a firm ride, all of my...
