Front Hub to Knuckle Bolt = $55 bolt anyone have a better source?

The tip of the JT doesn't have threads, so if you ignore the tip, they are basically the same bolt. I'm going order a JK bolt and give it a try just for grins.

Axle Hub Nut - Service Manual Says to Discard and get new one.

My hub nut looks fine. Is there any reason to follow the service manual and replace with a $10 new hub nut? Are they somehow designed to be single use?

Front Hub to Knuckle Bolt = $55 bolt anyone have a better source?

That actually looks nicer than the ones off my JT. Mine are not black, they look the same though. I would have to test with micrometer and thread tools to make sure.

Front Hub to Knuckle Bolt = $55 bolt anyone have a better source?

The JK bolt was 6 point, the JL / JT is 12 point. I will figure out the dimensions and thread type and let you know. I might also experiment with machining some of these on my lathe out of some sort of corrosion resistant material.

I ordered 6 just to have spares, shipping to Verdi, NV was $19

Front Hub to Knuckle Bolt = $55 bolt anyone have a better source?

On older rigs where rust has become and issue, I imagine these bolts that hold the hub to the knuckle must get corroded AF and become a booger to get off, especially on the trail.

Front Hub to Knuckle Bolt = $55 bolt anyone have a better source?

I mean I could probably machine this bolt for less. Kinda crazy.

Downside of watching Wayalife videos, you want one for any task you do on your jeep

Isn't that the truth, but money would disappear faster if I had to pay other people to do things. Time I have lots of, money not so much.

Downside of watching Wayalife videos, you want one for any task you do on your jeep

Anytime I have to fix or change something, I want a Wayalife video to follow. For swaping my front axle shaft, I can't find a JT specific video so can I just follow the Wayalife video for doing it on a JK?

Pro's and Cons of Axle width and Diff placement

I do have some mechanical skills , and tools, and access to a lift. But having never done one of these, it's a bit of a daunting task to take on. I am honest enough to say it's a bit intimidating a task to do the first time, knowing that I sometimes am 100 miles or more from blacktop and need to...

Pro's and Cons of Axle width and Diff placement

The only American made UD60 options I've found are Fusion and Dynatrac makes most of theirs in USA but way long wait time. DS Trac is cheapest axles but imports and WFO will only install them on time and materials as they don't have any experience with them.

PSC Adventure Steering Kit for 2020 and Newer Jeep JL/JT 3.6L $3150. I will update the whole build sheet as I get details if people are interested. Maybe the right place to do that is to start a build thread?

Pro's and Cons of Axle width and Diff placement

I am comparing the two very hard. It's between Fusion and Crane. They both have lifetime warranties, do bolt on setups for Lifts and rigs. Crane is very specific about their axles steel which is 8620 chromoly made in USA, I have to find out from Fusion steel. Fusion set is 3.5" x .5" tubes...

Pro's and Cons of Axle width and Diff placement

The only downside I can image to wider has to do with trail width, but it seems like 68" vs 72" is only 4" and I am thinking not many spot will be down to just inches. I say that and then I remember touching rock on both sides when I last did Rubicon, so I guess width would have mattered on that...

Pro's and Cons of Axle width and Diff placement

I'm dumb, of course the current drive line in the JTR determines where the diff is located. Driver side it is. At least now that's one less variable to deal with. :)
