Can you tell me what transmission in my 81 cj7? What fluid should I use?
I put some lucas in it and now not shifting. So I changed my filter and considering a whole transmission flush.
Any recommendations really appreciated.

Thanks. Engine I'd pretty much new everywhere except power steering and break drum. I think you're right. I'm going to lower my pride and let a pro do it.
Like my banker told me one time "I don't tell you how to coach, you let me handle the banking."
I guess I'll coach and let the mechanic...
I just bolted the carb on and went from there. I've read numerous places not to touch the air adjustments on the carb. So I haven't. The timing I did by ear.
What puzzles be was the fact that it idle perfect and no sneezing when first put it on.
I'm a weekend enthusiast.
I might need to pass...
Yes backfire in the Carb. Not the exhaust. Distributor was tight. I even slightly turned the distributor. Still popping.

I put a brand new Carter BBD carburetor on the 81 CJ7 I6. Drove it thirty miles ran great.
The out of no where it's starts sneezing in the Carb.
I done away with most vacuum lines. Kept the distributer line. Pcv line line.
Any help out there?

Anyone ever rebuilt mc2100. I'm not even good enough to call myself a shade tree mechanic, but I kinda want to tackle this job myself. Just for self gratification. Be honest, should I tackle this myself or leave it to the professionals?
Won't hurt my feelings if you think this job is to advance...
