That was pretty cool. I've seen a Dirt Every Day video where Fred puts one through its paces and it seemed a little more lacking in the power department as at some point he had to have one of the camera crew give a little push to make it up a bit of an obstacle.
I love those old ugly face jeepsters. The newer ones look a little to bronkoish but you can find them with an AMC factory V8 which is a pretty nice upgrade. I actually considered at one point replacing my jk with one of these for a much more economical V8 build. Hope to see this become a bit...
Make one!!! I haven't drove mine for years because I went a little to crazy and got sick of being pulled over just to have my head lights and tail lights height measured. Still it was fast and a lot of fun.
That is one pretty Javelin. The spair 401 I have was actually pulled out of a International Travel All when I purchesed it from a local junk yard years ago. First time I had ever seen an AMC swapped into anything. Don't remember the price but it was cheap because they thought it was a 360. I ran...
I took mine off for a while planning to buy an aftermarket bumper that would fit right with flats but decided to get a second car in case I break something and just put the plastic one back with a little trim job. I'm not really a fan of the no bumper look.
I red somewhere that running two antennas, one on each side mounted identicly will give you more range in front and behind but you will get less to the sides
I like the bead lock look but not the price or legality. I usually only drop to 20/25# and if your rim is 9" and your tire is 13.5" its not so likely to come off the bead anyhow. I just went with American Outlaws, Shotguns for the time being
I wheel fairly often and mainly use them only on very bad obstacles. If you use them with too much traction you could break an axle shaft not to mention without hydro boost in your steering the front being locked is near impossible to steer.
