Gas cap light

I have been on the road for 2 days and the last time I filled up I was driving down the interstate and noticed the word gas cap where my odo is so I pulled over checked the cap it was on but noticed the neck and cap were a little loose bought a new cap the fits tighter but the neck is still loose is this normal or what do I need to do to get this warning light to go off? Could be a few different things. Small evap leak. Bad evap leak detector-- little white thingy on your canister. Drive it for a day or two more see if it goes out
