Evo Spec King 2.5 rebuild/recharge

Still need to pull the shock off to get a better look at it, but after the weekend I have a small fluid leak (enough to make a small puddle on the garage floor) coming from one of my rear King 2.5 shocks. once i get it off and see where its coming from I hopefully can get a better idea what i need to do. Question is if its just a leak from maybe a loose fitting in the hose can i just tighten and take it somewhere to get recharged? if it seems more like a seal or further damage who do i contact to have rebuilt? EVO or King? I bought them used but being they are "evo spec" i wasn't sure who they actually get built by. Thanks in advance

Talk to MTG. He has sent his back to King for a rebuild at least once that I know of. Pretty sure his fronts also had bent shafts. Unless you have an extra vehicle to drive, pick up a set of Rancho RS5000's to run while your Kings get rebuilt. Now is the perfect time with the rebate.

Thanks, I'll hit him up. It's not my DD anymore so fortunately I don't need it for work

I think EVO rebuilds them as well, I know Mel was posting a price sheet on rebuilds and they can have them done in 2 days I think.

hmmm... I tried to contact them numerous times between Feb-May 2016 and never got a response.

I see the website url now redirects to a Facebook page...I'm not a FB user, all I get is the FB banner covering the page :naw:

My 2.5's have been sitting in my garage since Rancho's 2016 Spring sale.

at the time the cost to ship them to King and the turn-around time... I bought 4 rancho 9000's for less than the cost of shipping the shocks to King

anyone had their King shocks nitrogen filled? is it possible to rent a tank to fill them? don't want to use 4wp

the shocks arrived with only 25psi and I ran them that way before I ordered a gauge to check them and realized they had too little pressure - according to King they should have 75psi min fully extended no load.

I'd like to try and fill them to see if they're any good otherwise I'm going to hack them up and trash them, I'm in purging phase lol

after reading what I wrote I guess I still have some leftover frustration on buying such expensive paper weights...but not the 1st time I've done it

:cheesy:

I've done them twice. Once I sent them to King. The other time I had Trent Fabrication (in Sparks) do them. If I recall it was about the same price, but you save on shipping by doing it locally.

Thanks Mike, I'm going to get Trent Fab a call tomorrow. Seems easier being local just want to make sure it still comes out the "evo spec"
