The long and slow build of "................"

Looks good! I know folks talk a lot of shit about Smittybilt here, but I went with their Atlas carrier and have been pretty happy with it.
 
That's the most important part. 😎 How was the build quality and fitment of that one?
It's not to bad. A lot better then the stock pot metal one. It's a powder coated steel. Built to hold 195 pounds. It mounts directly to where the stock one mounts but has 2 support bars that push up against the tire. It's actually pretty solid. The stock carrier even when isolated rattle with every pebbles hit. I have yet to hear a rattle on this one. And I drove about 45 miles tonight. I bought a drop hitch and flipped it over to act as a rock guard for the tire but also a support of the tire. So my 3/4 spaces came in today. Being that I am yielding 3in should I not install them due to the fact I don't have a drag link flip or adjustable control arms in the rear? I am going to go up to 37s. Would it be better to just do all that at once?

From what I've read, It may be just enough added height to make your steering flighty, but maybe someone with actual experience with this setup will chime in. 🤔
 
So after a bit of a scare my wife and I are really lucky as far as income goes. That being said it looks like there are going to be some good options for me and the jeep next month. Due to my wife's new position the jeep has now become my everyday commuter car. So a regear is on the list. Evo is going to charge me about 1800 front and rear open diffs. My questions are going to be. 1- I really want 37s. Should I do that at that time ( wheeling will still continue on the regular ). 2- stick with 35s and the regear And go with new shocks. Fox reservoir? Also looking for suggestions. The regear is a for sure along with rear control arms. But still trying to decide which route to go after that? Thank you all in advance.

Honestly, if it was me, I'd get some rubi takeoffs. The way you wheel, you'd have a lot more fun with lockers and some more strength. Get them geared for 37s for the next step once your 35s are done.
 
I'd probably try and grab a Rubi transfer case too. 😎

As far as shocks go, I'm really happy with the Rancho 9000xl and would probably buy them again when necessary. The adjustments are great for tuning the ride to compensate for weight changes and road/trail conditions.

I keep thinking about coilovers, but the setup I've got now has been really good to me. I'll probably just get adjustable arms and new driveshafts and go up to 3" plush rides in the front/3" OME in the rear. That will handle 37s on the 2 door with no problem.
 
I would definitely upgrade the front axle with a locker and then regear at the same time. You will save money in the long run if you ever do a locker or have to upgrade due to a break. I re-geared 1.5 years ago. Then I did a ProRock last fall, then last week I put an ARB and new axles in the rear. I literally wasted 1500 or so doing the regear at first. I really wished that I would have waited and was patient.

I definitely don't have the money to buy an axle and regear at the same time. Are you saying be a bit more patient and wait? Being that the jeep has become my daily driver and I drive up a huge grade everyday now for 40 mile to work and 40 miles home. I figure I really need to regear. 1800 is pretty steep for a regear as it is. Plus another 600 plus or minus for a rear locker. Then the cost of a prorock 44. I'm already way over budget.

I would do a locker in the rear at the same time. Wish I had of. (Yes, that's what she said)
