New Cooper STT PRO's!!!

I have only one complaint and that's the weak sidewall. I don't think you can get them with a Kevlar sidewall like the BFG's.

Are weak sidewalls and issue with the STT Pros? I've been considering these and this is the first I've heard/read of this.

First I've heard anyone mention weak sidewalls on these. As mentioned I've had mine down to 8 psi lots of times and have had zero issues. In fact the 37x13.50x17's have a class E sidewall and i'd consider it very stiff.
Wonder if he's not referring to the previous version of these?

These are really growing on me as well, will heavily consider these over my current Grapplers next time around. Looks good everyone!

This is a 4 inch lift with the 295s. It's just high enough to still have a LCOG look and feel.

I got to play in the snow a little with these as well. I was very impressed with stopping harshly even on some really packed snow. As far as traction taking off or climbing, so-so. I wouldn't say they're superb, but definitely better than my old BFG MTs.

I love the Coopers. The slight road noise is better than most anything I listen to on the radio.

Pulled the trigger today when I found out that a local discount tire had these in stock because somebody else had previously ordered and backed out on them.
Cooper stt pro 37-13.5 vs toyo rt 35-12.5 at about 30% tread life left.

So I had took take rubi out today and stretch her legs with the new rubber.
So this morning I had to address my steering wheel being slightly off. So after I re-centered my steering wheel I did some flexing at the homestead to see how things worked. Glad I did [emoji15] I discovered at full stuff and at full lock up front I was just getting into the sway bar and the shock reservoir on the back side. So I installed the 1 1/4" spacers I had from when I ran the factory wheels. Not super stoked about those cause I eat through ball joints and unit bearings with 35's but everything clears perfectly and I'm currently waiting on a quote from off-road evolution for the pr 60's and some other goodies.

Guys, Straighten me out a bit. .. I had an early set of STT Pro's on my old YJ. At 26k, with 12/32" left I started having death wobble. So I checked all the normal problem areas and came out good. I went into my local DT for a rotation. The 2 guys doing the rotation asked me if I had felt some steering issues lately? The brought me over to the balance machine and they had the wheel in a hub style assembly on the machine. They showed me that the wheels where straight and true but I had 3 tires with the tread pattern shifting side to side as it spun, one of which was pretty extreme. The manager on duty told me to call Cooper about the issue, and I did. After back and forth with Cooper they offered me a 65% credit back. Discount offerd to cover the remainder of the worst tire as part of road hazard.

So this is what puzzles me... Why would a tire have had this issue in the middle of the tires life cycle? And, What irritates me is that until then, they preformed great! They did as everyone claims.

Iong story short, I do not have my old YJ anymore. Now am looking at a new set for my current Rubicon, I remember that when they were good they were. And when they weren't, they sucked! I feel a little stiff'ed from both companies, Any advice?

Welcome to Wayalife. Sounds like the tires just separated internally. I've had that happen before where 2 tires did that in a week. It happens.

Zephyr206, We apologize for the issues you had with your Cooper STT Pro tires. It sounds like you may have had a belt separation. This is certainly not common but it does happen. It may have been caused by an impact such as a pot hole or a rock when off-roading.

Glad to hear you were able to work out a deal between Cooper and Discount Tire to resolve the situation.
