WTF Things You've Been Told by a Business

Well at least her was honest about it. Lol. No dealership likes to do warranty work.

I've been writing service for over 10 years now and In this day and age I assure you warranty is 60% of my pay check and I'm in the top 5% in the nation. Cars aren't made to last and people don't keep them near as long so warranty keeps dealers open . Just some advisors suck at thier job and can't explain work performed or build value in thier service then you get the messed up situations like the 10 posts already.

We bought an Audi TDI and the salesman pitched how the services are cheaper because "this state of the art engine doesn't have any spark plugs". "You never have to worry about changing them, isn't that incredible they designed an engine that can run without spark plugs."

After a good chuckle I told him to just get the paperwork going cause I couldn't take it anymore.
Ummm actually he was somewhat correct. A diesel engine uses glow plugs. But you do have to change them from time to time add like anything they do go out lol

Well good to know. I just know every single dealer in ever knew said they don't make anything off of warranty work. I always figured it was because they could act like it would take 10 times longer than it actually should lol

The core 44 axle is a direct replacement, and "All brackets are designed around stock mounting points".

Yeah except for the control arm brackets all stick out further from the housing so that you have to shorten your arms as far as they will go (assuming you have all adjustable ones), the shock mounts are a 1 1/2" further outwards, the track bar bracket is enlarged in the direction of the sway bar links into a spot that doesn't allow for quick disconnects to be utilized, and not a bracket but for good measure even the pinion sticks out an extra inch or so.

lol

Of course he was correct. That's what made him sound like a jack ass. He was talking like it was a miracle and how revolutionary it was. He had no clue how Diesel engines work or the fact they've been around for over a century.

A few years ago I needed to get my car inspected, so I pulled into this mom and pop garage. This lady comes out and proceeds to check my window tint. (I'm not one to go darker than legal and I know for sure it was fine. It was installed by a reputable place and had passed several inspections wo issue) Her super scientific method of checking was basically putting her hand on the inside of the car and looking at it through the window. Apparently her eyes were so attuned, she could measure the darkness percentage! AND we were inside of a dim, windowless garage, mind you. She says "Well, your tint is too dark. I can't pass you." To which I said "thats impossible. it's passed before, and it's legal. I have all of the documentation in my glove box." Her response: "Yea? Talk is cheap."

Lol. With that nugget of wisdom, I left. I passed inspection without issue 20 min later at the local jiffy lube

I had a previous neighbor who had some domestic violence issues. One time, him and his girlfriend were yelling and cussing all morning and it was starting to get pretty escalated. At one point while I was outside, the girl motioned to me with her hand shaped like a gun and pointed to her head and then pointed inside (trying to tell me he had a gun). I went inside my house, and called 911 and explained that the situation was getting concerning and especially now with the gun thing. The dispatcher asked if I had seen the gun. I said no. She asked if there was any physical violence that I knew about. I said no. So she then said, sorry we can't do anything at this time. I was stunned. So then I asked her, you want me to call you after there is a body then? She was speechless but kept defending her position of why they couldn't dispatch anybody. They never did come out but luckily nothing happened to the neighbor or the girlfriend either. I was shocked that they wouldn't come out, I've seen police come out for way stupider stuff.

About two or so years ago, I purchased a 2011 Mustang GT with around 11k miles. The dealer had previously installed two kicker l7's in the trunk and without me realizing, they installed them incorrectly. Needless to say, I woke up the next morning to a car that died as I rolled my window down. It was just about to rain and I had the car for about 12 hours at this point. After a long call with the dealer, they had a tow company come pick it up. The driver decided to winch my car from behind the front splitter despite me telling him it would rip off. He said it would never rip off.. Well two seconds of winching and what do you know? My splitter AND front bumper are now on the ground. His boss was not impressed.

About 3 years ago I took my new-to-me TJ to the closest dealer to get the programming changed for the gearing and 35" tires after making an appointment over the phone. Get to the dealer early and as I am checking in problem 1 comes up. I was quoted $85.00 over the phone and the guy behind the counter says "that will be $120.00" and I said nope, was quoted $85.00 by John and at that time John stands up and tells the counter guy, "yep it's $85.00. OK problem 1 gone but on to number 2.

They take my jeep back and I sit in the waiting room for well over an hour when another person comes up and says "we won't be able to do your work until the tech pulls the tranny out of this other car that's been here for months" I'm like WTF is wrong with you, it will take the guy 10 minutes tops to make my changes and I can be on my way, nope is all I hear and the service manager is NO help. So I figure I will take full advantage of their free shuttle service. So for the next 2 hours they are taking me shopping all over town, got my new cell phone, paid a few bills, had a great lunch and then get the call its ready.

So we head back, I get my jeep and I head home with everything as it should be but wait, there's more! Turns out the change they made was not permanent and the first time I disconnected the battery it went back to factory default! WTF is wrong with people now a days???

Saving up for a Speedo Healer to correct the problem once and for all!

Barstow or Lancaster?
Had major problems with Hunter Jeep in the past. Similar thing with me. I called made an appointment for a check engine light. Waited for about two hours only for the light to turn back on a block away from the dealer. I called and asked what the problem was. They said they only cleared the light and didn't diagnose. lol

Second time down there they actually did something and needed the Jeep for a few days. So they offer me a ride and I accept. I get in the shuttle and tell the driver I live in Ridgecrest. He went on to say that it's past the 50 mile limit but he would take me all the way up as far as he could (50 miles) and drop me off and I can make arraignments from there. At first I thought he was joking. But nope. He was dead serious about just dumping me off on the side of the 14 in the middle of the desert once he got 50 miles away from the dealership.

Yep, it was Hunter and it's a place I will never step foot in again. I tried to call the GM there and he would never return my calls BUT when I got that little blue comment card in the mail and blasted the dealership I got a call. But he also has his head up his f*&king ass as he stood behind the service manager's decision to make me wait hours for a 10 minute fix. They will never get any business from me, EVER!

This one didn't happen to me, but a good fiend in college- she took her car to get an oil change to one of these Jiffy Lubes or whatever and they then told her that she needed to by an air filter because there wasn't even one present- she was skeptical so she left and stopped by and I checked for her and sure enough there it was, pretty decent shape too.

When I had my 06 TJ, the engine would shut off doing 75 coming down the 17 from Flagstaff. Needless to say loosing power at that speed on a curve was stain inducing... Took it to the stealership, "we can't replicate." Long argument with the SM and GM... GM agreed to ride with me and let me show him what it was doing... He screamed like a little kid, I thought he was going to cry... 3 days later I was the owner of a brand new 08 JK. Never was told what was wrong, I was just told it was cheaper to write it off under the lemon law and transfer what I owed to a new JK than fix it. All I payed was TTL. No change to previous sales agreement, didn't extend my contract or anything.

Hell that's most salesmen. Lol. Some exceptions out there , but not many. What i have found interesting, and maybe it's just been me, but I found more female sales personnel to be more knowledgeable than a lot of the males. Idk i guess they maybe at least to the time to read up on what they were selling lol

This is truth. Most female sales consultants feel like they have to cram information because they feel like they're in a mostly guys occupation and can be taken advantage of. So a lot of times they'll retain random information that may or may not be relevant (most of the time it is relevant though) just to sound big and important if nothing else, but somehow they always know exactly what to say and when to say it lol. I've seen it countless times. Obviously there are exceptions to this.

I always try to know 100% what I'm talking about when guiding my customers through the car buying process. But then again I sell Jeeps so that's pretty easy [emoji23]

During my 5 year inspection they found the water pump needed replaced and my rear main seal was leaking, kept it for two days waiting on parts (gave me a loaner POS. I pick the Jeep up and the passenger side freedom top, door and hard top including window are destroyed. They had it parked away hoping I wouldn't see it - when I asked them WTF?? I got this gem

We didn't do it, it was the delivery truck so we aren't responsible.

I told them it it was their responsibility and I needed a car again. They wanted to paint it and told me the gashes weren't structural - I told him no shit it's a Jeep top, just fix it.

Hunter is why my 2008 has a new style hard top...

This will be a great thread.:clap2:

In defense of the accountant though, I understand what he was getting at even if his delivery sucked. Many accountants take on the roll of business advisors, not just tax preparers. This is also true with attorneys, and it is especially true with a lot of small business clients where developing a relationship with the client is extremely important. The ability to get along, have mutual trust, and a good line of open communication, is paramount. It would be very rare for me to take a case for someone I can't stand, regardless of the dollars involved.

I was going to reply with the same sentiment...we've gone through several cpa's until we found one that could understand the intricacies and nuances of our very complicated financial situation spanning several states...not every firm is a good fit...dittto attorneys

1) My dad went to get the safety inspection sticker for the family boat trailer. The teenage gas station kid told my dad they had to verify the trailer brakes. "Take it out on the road in front of the station hit 30mph, and slam on the brakes. We need to see if the trailer brakes work". My dad looked over at the 6000# boat on the trailer, then back at the kid, and said, "No F@$^ing way kid" and he ended up giving him the sticker anyway. Nice try.

2) After installing my lift, I spent $100 at the local jeep dealer to get the alignment. They called me in to show me the castor was out. I asked him to adjust the lower control arms. Oh no, they don't touch aftermarket parts. So I said I'd do it at home, can I get at least a free re-check when I bring I bring it back to verify? Sadly, no. $100 every time, even though they never touched my jeep with a wrench. At least he told me to adjust the arms the wrong way to fix the castor (I pretended to go along with it).

3) My favorite is the fab shop near me- the owner thinks he knows everything from previous race experience. They do build cool stuff and neat looking rock buggies but he told me 1) teraflex makes a much better long arm kit than evo. (????) 2) Gives me a high speed test drive in a customers long arm/king coil over jeep (he called it the pre-runner package) and says my jeep could handle and ride like that too (including putting tires off the road at 60mph to show me how it handles). I thought it rode a little better than mine, so I said, "sure, gimme a quote for the kings and long arm kit". He came back 30 mins later and said "35". I was like, shoot, $3,500 is a deal, lets do it. He says, "no, $35,000.". I laugh and quickly pay the bill for my rear track bar bracket and got the hell out of there.

Sorry to tell you, but I think your ARB is installed wrong. Everyone knows the ARB is supposed to be connected to the emissions lines! It connects right next to the flux capacitor
