Awesome adventure! My fiancé and I were just sitting on the porch enjoying a bottle of wine and discussing some of our next jeep adventures. It's great to see a rad couple enjoying life together!

Thanks! We've been real lucky to have been able to do things like this together for over 25 years now.

Beautiful trial. has always been on my radar, but I'm not crazy enough to think my rig can handle it yet. Sad to think that they are gonna tame it down. I always looked at Fordyce a benchmark goal.

eh, they only tame it down for Sierra Trek just like they do Rubicon for the Jeepers Jamboree. Trust me, it's only temporary and it'll be plenty nasty for you when you finally do get to a point where you can run it. Your bigger concern should be in regards to the water flow. Regardless of the trail condition, you aren't going anywhere if the water is up too high. :crazyeyes:

LOL!! You'd have a great time and there are bypasses to the hardest stuff and they're still a challenge. It's gorgeous up there and I think you and Steph would love it. :yup:

In a 4-door, I highly recommend that you are running 37's and locked front and rear.

Great job on the Photos. They were fantastic! I know photos don't generally reflect the severity of the angles. Yours did a great job.

Wow! What a great trail! I'm surprised you don't need a new drivers seat due to missing foam and soiled fabric. [emoji15] Or do you....? I know my seat would be ruined after a near flop like that! That's so cool that you and Cindy can do something like this together. Thank you for sharing your adventure with us!!

LOL!! Honestly, I think maybe if I had more time to think about it, I may have needed a new seat. Being that it happened so fast and so unexpectedly, all I could do was react. Now, watching the video makes me feel way more nervous than how I felt at the time :shock:

Fix your Jeep and get some time off of work. If you wait too long, the water flows will be deep and strong enough to carry you down to Sacramento.

Spectacular. Amazing story and photos. Would be awesome if you guys had one of them new nifty 360 cameras, so that those of us not lucky enough to have access to said trails could see them in their full 360 beauty! Thank you for taking the time to take us along for the ride.:thumb::beer:

Were you out on the trail? We didn't see anyone the whole day but then, it was a Thursday and we got a late start.

Running the trails and getting photos/videos to share with the rest is a lot of work, I'm beginning to understand. My wife asked to drive when we were out today. She's always said no when I asked before. In my excitement I never hit record on the GoPro! [emoji15][emoji30] I was so angry with myself when we got home and realized what I had done. Lesson learned the hard way...

Always love the trails you share with us!!! Keep them coming! (Also glad you and Rubicat didn't flop!)

Hi Eddie and Cindy,

Very impressed by the quality of your photos and the details of the actions shots with explanation of each delicate situation and how they occurred.

I must admit that I admire Cindy taking photos of you when you were almost rolling your Jeep on the roof instead of panicking like many people would do.

That shows that you guys have got guts and control, even more so as it was just the two of you.

One thing I would like to ask is about the half doors of Moby.

Could you tell me what brand are they and what are they made of please because if they only ended up with few scratches then they must be Top quality.

LOL!! Yeah, if it's anyone who would let the camera go off subject, it's me. Cindy has a steely nerve and if I'm gonna go over, she's gonna make sure to catch it on film :crazyeyes:
As mentioned, we have Rugged Ridge half doors. Cindy literally leaned Moby into the rock face and enough so that one of the hinges shifted inward and later required me to loosen the bolts and pull it back out in order to open and close it. The door itself just flexed in and got scratched but there was no damage to it the way a steel door would have been. I love these things!

Looks like such a fun day! Glad your didn't flip rubicat on her lid! That would have made for a long day

Oh yeah, it was about 7PM when we got to winch hill 5 and the sun was starting to set behind the mountains. Nothing would have sucked more than to dump at the last obstacle and have to do a recovery in the dark.

Dang, that's intense. I got nervous just looking at the pics. Also, I never quite knew what you meant by "pics don't do it justice" until I've started running more tails and taking pics/video, and you're absolutely right. Camera takes away 50lb from any rock.

Great trail writeup as well as photos to support how difficult the trail is. Fordyce, one of my bucket list trails that I want to run next year. I am hopeful that I can join you both next year during the week since I will have more vacation time next year (I spent a lot of vacation getting RubySky built this year). I am pretty sure that by next year I will have the experience necessary to effectively run RubySky through this. Being that it is a somewhat close build to Rubicat, I suspect I will know what I am in for when I see Rubicat go ahead of me. Of heck, you want me to be the guinea pig, I am up for that too.

Eddie and Cindy, X1000, awesome pics and great overview of the trail! Awesome you guys captured the beautiful scenery! I loved the WH1 background on your pics, and like you said, the pics do not do justice to how challenging the trail really is. You mentioned trail running at night, and that adds a whole other paradigm to the obstacles, but I definitely love it! This is one of my favorite and IMO most challenging trails out there!

One note, for PG&E release at the Fordyce Dam, I highly recommend for anyone planning to do Committe or any other crossings to check dreamflows, which posts PG&E flows at the Dam. Anything over 350cfs is very dicey for most rigs. At over 400cfs it is dicey for most rigs running 40's and above as well.

Glad you enjoyed the pics. So that it isn't missed, the Rubicon is a tough trail especially if you run obstacles like the Soup Bowl and drop down the Old Sluice. Of course, the previous version of the Little Sluice was nothing short of nuts. That being said, yeah, it sure is nice to be able to pick up and do a run like this on a whim. Of course, if I were really cool, I would sit behind my computer and post up stupid on Instagram and Facebook all day long. :crazyeyes:

LOL!! I hope you realize that as much as we enjoy taking on a tough trail like this, our true passion is in getting out in to the wild and exploring. If we can do it with friends, all the better. The wheeling for us is just icing on the cake.

Can't get enough of this stuff! Got my first taste in Moab this Summer but all that did was make me want to get out there even more. These runs you are able to go on out there are just incredible.
