Top Gear (USA) does Rubicon trail

The US Top Gear on the Rubicon sounds good, but...

...they already did this on the original series:

Honestly, you can't get any better than the orangutan in a YJ trying not to spill his "drink" while he's getting hung up on the rocks!

Very cool! I love the British Top Gear.

WHAT !!! No Jeep! Yes, that was lame. My wife told me that they needed Eddie there to spot them and then show Cindy driving it to give viewers an idea of how it should be done!!!

Doh! What a waste.... I think a child in a power wheels Jeep would have made that more interesting. I've never been on the Rubicon but... I'm sure my mother in law at 67 would have made it look better in her Town & Country

Being from Northern California, this episode made me a little homesick. Other than that, it was pretty much a lesson on the importance of lockers and popper lines. I am sure they used the vehicles they did and drove that way for theatrics. The ass-hattery was a little annoying though.

The show is a comedy, not a documentary on how to run the Rubicon. I thought it was funny to watch Rut bounce around on his over inflated tires, Tanner drive like an ass and well Adam, just being Adam. Funny!

This episode was only good for a few laughs. None of them aired down or even worried about taking good lines. They called some non obstacles by name while missing some of the more famous ones. They even managed to screw up and omit some of the history of the trail in the beginning of the episode. The funniest part to me was them talking about having to make up ground on day two of their three days on the trail. Even though she has been through much tougher terrain, it did make my gal cringe a little when they put the 4 runner on it's side since we have plan for a Rubicon trip this summer. I loved seeing the local scenery on tv, but it did lower my opinion of the show.

The American Top Gear sucks

X1000. Very disappointing episode, and actually pissed me off and saddened me. With thousands viewing the show, and teh shitty antics on driving and tearing stuff up, plus no seat belts for ratings, it goes beyond what we all should be fighting for. Fuck them!

Burn out at Tom's cabin? Check! Ripping by the dam? Check! Slamming on breaks by the kiosk? Check! Ramming throughteh springs? Check! Seatbelts optional? Check! Shitty ass dribving antics? Fucking check. Fucktards in teh name of ratings. You can say it is a tv show and mellow out, but thousands watched it, and will bring more dumbas ideas and more people that have no business being in the trail replicating what they did on tv.

Did I already say Fucktards???

\end of my rant...

Very disappointed in the show...... I'll be running the trail in Oct and to be honest I've been a little "jittery" about it......After seeing those dumbasses run it how they did I'm thinking I'll be just fine.

Mud, I probably missed some of teh parts, but looking through the vid seems belts are not worn all the times. yep I get that a harness is a pain to wearall teh time if you wear a lapbelt, but there are shots showing no lapbelts. Either way that is the least of the stuff.

I am not totally butthurt, this is entertainment and I get it. What pisses me off is that the optics this has and will cast on the trail and the wheeling community in general. I have been fighting along with a lot of people to keep trails open so this is a disservice.... It took a while to help educate groups and individuals that tore up and trashed the trails. The Rubicon is pretty close to my backyard and is one of my favorite trails and has been several times on the chopping block of partial closures. It doe snot take much more than someone posting pics of a dummy that goes off the trail and tear up the environment around it. We have been trying to partner up or fight against entities that hind behind a preservation excuse when they are really about suing the government and the only green they are interested in cold hard cash....

I can not wait to pickup more trash and get people out of the trail this season :icon_crazy: They could have added a lot of positive stuff to help the trail and the image of the wheeling community and chose not to.
