Trucklite or JW Speaker 8700 HEadlight replacements...

There are a few guys in the build threads running the Nightsun 4x4 LEDs and I am kinda leaning that way again just because i like the looks. From what I've seen they all seem similar in performance.
 
I honestly don't have a problem with my stock light after my lift. Before the lift I agree like everyone else that they sucked. Could they be better, sure but I'm content for now.

Trucklites have a huge following, but you have the x artifacts. JW are reported to be great lights, but are really pricey. KC light has made great lights for decades, didn't know they solved the x problem as they look like Trucklites knockoffs.

They are all going to be much better than the stock lights, and none are really cheap. Pick what you like for what you are willing and able to pay. Good headlights should really be the number one mod for every single JK - for safety reasons.

I think it is criminal how terrible the stock lights are. 20 year old yellowed headlights are better and brighter. I can't believe the jeep headlights are approved for use by the federal government as meeting any kind of standards. That is DC for you.

I went with heated Trucklites for icing conditions, and not in GA, but for my eventual return to ice storm prone OK. They do melt the frost off here though. The x is easy to ignore, especially since the lights are so much brighter.

too true about the mods for safety reasons. I'm focusing on building the jeep to be long term, safe, and functional (waiting on a lift and looking at lights, skids, recovery, probably brakes) for many reasons. I look forward to seeing how a stock JK performs offroad tho, as I've only had mine for a little over a month


also (not wanting to cross link to another forum) I did find a great comparison of the TL to the KC lights, I'll be going with the KC's for both company reputation and the actual light itself.
 
I have said it before and I will say it again that I have never seen the infamous X pattern that people always talk about. Even if I did the lights are so damn bright I wouldn't give a damn.

I did a light test next to a guy with the new JW speakers about 3 months ago. His were bright no doubt about it but he himself said that he thought the light output of my truck lites was brighter.

All of that being said I don't think anyone would be disappointed with either one. Just depends how much you want to pay for what "looks better" to you.

I love my Trucklites, I did see the X pattern until I adjusted my lights. Now they are perfect.
 
I run the KC's The HL and the FL. I like them, they look good work good. I had an issue with one and they replaced the light itself with no haggle.

I have NOT owned the other two brands so i can't compare them.
 
Now to throw a monkey wrench... I just saw that 4wheel parts is selling headlights by pro comp, and they're about half of what the other comparable lights cost. Anybody seen these or have any input? Just took a long road trip and I bitched about my headlights the whole time. I even used my rigid pillar mounted lights on the highway at times!

There is a reason why they are that "cheap"...Like anything else that is procomp.

There's only a $30 difference between pro comp vs Trucklites. I personally would pay the extra and go with Trucklites.

I'm with you dude. There is a bright spot in the middle where the beams cross over. If I wasn't lazy, I could order those adjustment screws and move them horizontally to fix it, but it really doesn't bother me enough.

I say take the savings you get from TLs vs. JW and spend it on an LED bar and you come out better overall.
 
Call me weird (the wife does for most of my mannerisms anyway) but I actually like the "hotspot"/where the two spots meet. Don't know why. I am not sure if that is the X-pattern but whatever it is, I like it.
 
I went with JW speakers. For what it's worth, I like them. Vast improvement from stock. I do need to adjust them some yet since I seem to be getting flashed a little too often.

I can't see the X pattern now that I adjusted them unless straight at a wall.

Great photo. I'm impressed with how much they light up the roadside. In Mississippi, if you haven't hit a deer (or multiple deer), you haven't driven very long.

I nailed a deer at 50 mph in my truck. Lucky I had a big steel bumper with light bar, no damage. Deer not so much.
 
Truck-Lites vs. my prior Hella e-code lenses.

Low & High beam, Truck-Lites. I like how wide the pattern is.
