Ok, Opinions Needed

Thanks man. Yeah all of them have the benefits that's for sure. The reason I would go Rubicon versus Sport, with the plane to go 37s, would be the sway bar and the transfer case more than anything. Not to mention that because it has the front 44, whenever I need to go PR44 I can easily swap the internals over and it wouldn't cost me as much.

Well my vote would be for you to get a Rubicon then! And when the new JLs come out I think the JKs would be pretty cheap and could get a good deal on one!

So is it bad that I've spent the last couple nights putting a build sheet together for a JKUR that I'm 2 years out from even purchasing!? :cheesy:

No I do that too when I'm bored. I think I've made a XJ,ZJ,LJ Build sheet and I don't own any of them lol. Always fun!

Nope, I think I've made like 5 different build sheets for my Jeep lol.

Haha I've done that too!

So, been doing some thinking and talking with the wife. I think I'm going to go the older rig route. I'm thinking either XJ, WJ, or a Full-Size (Cherokee Chief or Wagoneer). The full size has me been really piquing my interest lately. I really want to do something slightly different and that I can get creative with.

If you truly did go old school that would be sweet! If not, stay jkur. Yep

In all seriousness an older FSJ build would be sweet. Just don't cut up one that could be factory restored.

With all my vehicles I build I try to be unique and not follow the same path as everyone else. XJs are cheap and plentiful. But most you find these days are sitting at least 175,000 miles. The 4.0 runs forever but they do love to overheat and have a rod knock. All the Wagoneers I see are usually mud trucks. But I think they would make a great trail rig. Most have Dana 44s and V8 power. Plus plenty of room. The hard part would be finding one. Good luck in your search and decision.

Go with FSJ!!! There's a 70s Cheif I've been eyeing for the past fee months that has been sitting at a garage on my way to church for awhile now. I need to stop and there and ask about it lol

If I went FSJ, where I would be cutting on one, it wouldn't be a high quality one. While I would go LS, I probably wouldn't go too big with it. It would be a fun reliable trail vehicle that could still conquer some decent obstacles.

The old school rig is really got my creativeness going. I blame Eddie for all of his rigs!

Yup, the more research I do, the more a FSJ is looking like my route. I've got connections to ALL kinds of stock LS parts and shop access at a fabrication shop. This might actually not be a bad ass route to go, but could end up being cheaper in the long run, than going with a JK. Now to fast forward my financial plan 2 years so that I can actually be at the point to find the right candidate. Anyone have a time machine? :idontknow:
