Caught the Bug
Slow going Build thread!

Hello everyone, so recently I picked up a '13 bright white JKU Sahara. This build will be a long term project for me. I will try my best to update the thread with plenty of pictures. I live in northern Illinois but plan on building a reliable rig to go out west. I have friends I visit out in Arizona, so I visit a few times a year. I know what I want to do but obviously don't have all the money to do it all at once. I think the majority of us can relate. I have already bought 37" Nitto Trail Grapplers. I also ordered Clayton's 4.5" short arm kit. The kit gives me all the necessary parts to lift now and get long arms later. I am impatient, so I will be ordering the long arm kit in a couple months. I am trying to find a Dana 44 housing and am going to build that and the rear 44. I'm not going to be wheeling frequent or hard enough to justify 60's, but then again you never know. I am kind of waiting on completing a front 44 before gearing. Not ideal when I have parts waiting to go on the jk now. But build in progress. Hope everyone enjoys my build.

I didn't realize that the paracord had reflective material. Kind of cool.

What wheels are those? Are they real bead locks? Thanks
 
The at Level8 trackers. It's a relatively new wheel, carried by Discount Tire. I think Discount Tire owns the brand but I'm not positive. It's not a real bead locking wheel, however the ring is removable and serves a purpose. It's a thick paintable plastic ring that protects the wheel from damage and gives you the look of a bead lock. Their reasonably priced and badass looking. Also the wheel has two valve stems to airbags tires down.
 
So as I wait for the rest of my lift, I bought a used oversized tire carrier. 100.00 I bought it for in new condition. This is a temporary fix to mounting my spare until I build a rear bumper. ImageUploadedByWAYALIFE1439676915.556336.jpg

Then I had to trim the vent! I trimmed it more then recommended because I wanted it to sit flat for support. I tapped the edges to keep water out. I will buy a new vent when I build a rear bumper.ImageUploadedByWAYALIFE1439677059.784500.jpg

I had that carrier on for a year before I got the EVO one, worked great and I liked the look. Enjoy the build!
