Hi-Lift Jack Mounting Options

I've had my jack mounted on the hood for the past year. I used the hi-lift mounts

Con's:
A.the mounts fade over time went from black to gold
B. No integrated locking system comes with the mounts(have to come up with ur own)
C. A pain to remove the jack if needed or when washing the jeep.(power washer will strip the coating on the jack). Its not a pain to loosen the mounts its a pain because the jack it long and awkward to handle .

D. You will have to relocate the windshield sprayers because the jack will block them.

Pros: are subjective IMHO because we all have different needs from the jack.

I'm in the process of relocating in to the rear. Somewhere on my tire carrier

I just seen on evos Facebook that they have a jack mounting bracket to locate ur jack on the tailgate. It is compatible with the evo tire carrier and a couple other tire carriers aswell but I see ur jeep is stock so It would work for u. It also has an integrated cb antenna mount point.

does it eventually start to leave drip marks from rust or oils on your hood after being out in the weather with rain and/or snow?

I was just curious, something I always wondered about the hood mounts and leaving the on there...

I agree they do look badass though...

always liked this mounting option as well...

I was just talking about this to a fellow Jeeper yesterday. The lawsuit could be absolutely devastating. Not to mention what could happen should you get rear-ended and said missile comes through your windshield at your face. Yes these ideals may be thinking about things a little too much, however, better to be safe then sorry.

I was actually considering this from the start and was worried about it. This is probably the reason I haven't bought one yet.

Very bad idea to mount something of that weight on the front end for daily driving. Off road you likely don't need to worry about it flying off. If just for looks then I would mount it on the tail. I have the aev rear bumper and the verticle position is very solid. ,it is enclosed in a small clamp system and I also can lock it down with a cable lock from lowes or Home Depot. I do not think it is wise to bolt a missile down to your hood. Bad idea. Also be careful keeping it in the cab on the roll bar. If it comes loose it may just fly forward. Keeping it low and on the floorboard or behind seat in a four door might be a better option. It is a heavy tool and if it comes off it could kill somebody. I am a freak about safety. Almost anything mounted on my rear end is also zip tied with 175 lbs strength as a backup. My shovel is locked and zip tied and my trasharoo off the back tire has zipties. You don't want anything flying off.

So do we dare ask what you do allow to get mounted on your rear end that doesn't require zip ties? ;)

Sorry I couldn't help myself... ;)

I would think that by adding "bling" in the way of a Jack is kind of ridiculous!
For me...having been through an extrication class and have seen the value of a high lift in the case of an emergency, as a spreader, puller, come-along, lift, and anchor it is a nessisary piece of equipment to add to your safety gear.
Although some might be able to accomplish this with a winch...I have no experience with that. But your high lift is your friend and I suggest if you carry it..learn to use it. It would suck to have someone pull it off your hood and you have no idea what it's uses for and look like an idiot.
My 2 cents!

Here is a pic of EVOs mount, using the rear hinges. View attachment 150191

After using this mount a couple weekends ago in Nevada, I would suggest drilling a hole directly behind at least one of the mounting bolts on the backside of the tailgate, preferable where the plastic trim piece is and thread on a nut and a lock washer. The bolt supplied by Evo should be long enough. Mine pulled out on a series of big bumps. It's an M8x1.25 thread. The tailgate mounting holes are just some threads in a steel plate inside the tailgate. Other than that issue the mount with the CB mount works great.

Will do. Thanks for the heads up.

Can the dominion be used on a 2 door or is strictly for JKU?
Looks like the best placement I've seen so far.

I can't see how it would make a difference.

One note though. Had a flat this weekend and since it takes a good few minutes to get it unbolted from the mount I ended up using a buddies just because his came off his mounts quicker.

Easier and safer for changing flats.
