Dynatrac Prosteer Ball Joints

OH YES most definitely i applied a liberal amount of anti seize. Being that my jeep has been in colorado most its life i have bulk in my garage PB blaster and anti seize haha i know all to well how a few seized bolts can triple install time. i just cleaned it up puuurty before snapping the pic ;)

and hey in regards to the pipe fitting im just gonna go buy another one. $8 is still cheaper than a $70 adapter kit haha and supposedly i should never need new ball joints again :fingerscrossed: and wont have to worry about it

A+ on the anit-seize cleanup! No matter how hard I try, that stuff always seems to leave a mess behind! :)

If the pipe fitting worked on the first one, probably worth just repeating it for the other side. :thumb:

haha yeah thats what i thought until the 2nd one broke the exact same way just barely before the ball joint was flush :banghead:

but a thick washer the same diameter as the top cup and another little adapter in the autozone 4wd kit worked to finish it off and it was like 20 cents instead of 4 bucks

Both lowers in hopefully the uppers tomorrow

i also never saw any good answer on how often these things are supposed to be greased?

FWIW, I've been greasing mine at my oil change interval which is working out to every 5-6000mi or after spending a lot of time in a dusty environment (e.g. Death Valley for 4 days). That said, even with 5,000mi on them since the last grease job, the grease that oozes out of the joints is still clean with very little evidence of wear.

How do you grease the lower one? I have seen maybe unscrew the plug screw in a zerk grease then 're plug? But with how flush that nut sits it doesn't look like it would be able to spin

You need a needle adapter or needle attachment.

Just throwing it out there that if you get a needle adapter or attachment look for the blunt needle that depresses the ball in the zerk and not the sharp needle adapters they can damage the grease fitting

GOOD

Duely noted thank you

You cant go wrong with these ProSteers. I have had them since 2011 and no issues what so ever. I use that needle adaptor from Amazon also, works good enough.
Lots of peeps around here keep replacing their cheap ball joints with more cheap ones and I just shake my head.

welp even with renting every possible ball joint press and adapter kit from auto zone and orileys i cant seem to get the uppers in. The angle of it just wont let me get anything to work. looks like i might be ordering that jeep specific angled adapter set after all :grayno:

by chance is the press hitting the upper spring perch?

so the actual press im renting from auto zone looks just like the first link but just curious the second link the pic doesnt really look like its angled but maybe its just a bad pic? and sounds like you made them work with the prosteers no prob so i might just get that adapter kit

YES! and it keeps pushing it off the top cup

I'd remove the zerk before it gets damaged and the reason you're hitting the spring perch and not getting a good angle and slipping off is because you need more droop on the axle or Jack up the opposite side of the axle.
