Not satisfied with Jeep warranty

In July 2012 I purchased a new Jeep 4dr Overland.
Almost immediately I noticed that locking wheel nuts were rusting.
After a short they looked pretty bad.

A visit to the dealer was in order, then this where it all went belly up, the warranty department reckon this rust is normal and refuse to replace them.

Has anyone else experienced this problem as I am not satisfied with their reply and wish to pursue the issue.
 
I have had nothing but problems with wheel locks. Tossed in trash and replaced by regular wheel nuts.

My area used to be really bad for wheel thefts 15-20 years ago. Now, everyone has alloys and wheel thefts are rare. They just steal the whole car...
 
I'd have to agree - wheel locks are nothing but trouble and I would recommend that you replace what you have with regular lug nuts.

That a good pointy but it really ticks me off that Jeep are so petty about such a small thing.

Might have to take your suggestions and bite the bullet.

I have to wonder if the locks were actually added by your dealership. Here in the U.S. I don't believe they are even offered from the factory.

The dealer put locking nuts on my jeep when they received it from the factory at no cost.

My dealer installed aftermarket rims and tires on my jeep before I bought it 5.5 years ago . They also installed locking lugs on the rims . They are chrome , I have had them off several times since then , and they still look like new with no rust ! I don't recall ever seeing such rusted lugs as yours ! I wonder if it's possible if they could get any cheaper with lugs nuts than yours !If they say it's normal , ask them to show you other ones with this amount of rust . I can be an a$$hole , If I didn't get satisfaction , they would wish they had just replaced them !

Mine have them and had them when I bought it. I think its a royal pain in the arse and can't wait until I get new wheels and not have them anymore.

I like the "Gorilla" style locking lugs. Much easier to use and seem to engage very well when installing or removing the lock.

Bonus = no rust, the wheels have been on and off multiple times in the last year.

Never had very good luck with the "McGard" style. Much harder to use/line up.

I have checked out the price for replacements, around 40 UK pounds.
I feel that to have to spend money on car that has only done 5k and just over six months old is not what I should be doing.
Surely Jeep have a responsibility here to make the customer happy and accept there is a fault with these nuts.
As stated earlier none of the other nuts have any sign of rust just all the locking ones.
There is also the fact the car was bought in the summer and they still rusted, what's going to happen during winter months, is the rust going to cause issues with the wheels?

does anyone know the name and addresses of any of Jeeps top dogs so I can send the details and pictures of the problem?
 
Bought these MOPAR wheel locks six months ago but only used one on the spare 'cause it seemed so vulnerable, otherwise I wouldn't use it. It's standing up OK but is mostly protected from the elements out back. Disclaimer: Arizona, unlike the UK, is not known for it's wet weather!:twocents:

It's hard to imagine anyone wanting to steal stock Jeep rims when I know people who can't GIVE them away. :) Lose the locks, they are just a PITA.

Both of my JK's came with a locking nut on ONLY the spare and I have had no rust issues with either

Lol this is true but I live near Camden NJ where anything is game! No police force there anymore lol they'll steal anything they can get their hands on!
 
Just came across this thread b/c I was trying to find some suggestions on locks to purchase since mine didn't come w/any. Like Wayalife said, they don't come w/the Jeep unless the dealer does it. Unfortunately, we have a lot issues with people steeling wheels for the tires ...not for the wheels. :grayno: One dealership I talked to said they put them on all of their vehicles now b/c they came in one morning and all of the spare tires were missing from the Jeeps on the lot! Crazy!
Soo... all of that being said is there anything anyone can recommend that would be easy enough to use when you're out on the trail and have to change the tire?
