Need front track bar

Just went to have my jeep aligned and was informed that the adjustment point was rusted beyond a point where the tech felt comfortable adjusting it. Need a front track bar to replace it with. I'm on a budget, so I'm not looking for high end, unless you are willing to sell at a great price.

Are you running an aftermarket track bar now? Stock ones are not adjustable, so hope the tech wasn't talking about something different.

Ohh, thanks for pointing that out, my error, not the techs.....I was confusing names of the bars....what the one for critical for adjusting alignments, tie rod? I am a do it yourselfer, but don't have the actually knowledge. I usually spend lots of time researching, but didn't, just went with what I thought it was.

If your steering wheel was off center, its your drag link. If its your toe that hes trying to adjust (my guess), its the tie rod you can get a stock replacement for 140$ or go the smart route and buy an aftermarket heavy duty one so you will be less likely to ever deal with problems with your tie rod again. Thats my advise, as I replaced the stock one and now this stock one is rusting and getting sloppy again so after market time

Aftermarket tie rods can't rust?

If you want something a little better than stock, maybe the ruffstuff tie rod will suit your needs. I don't see the ruffstuff suffering the same issues the stock one does in regards to to how the rod ends attach to the tie rod. Of course there are heavier duty, more expensive options, but you showed concern on the cost.

Yes it is toed in. He showed me exactly what the problem was. Thankfully, when it comes to wheels and stuff related, I have these guys to go to. Very small family business and I am acquainted with the owner and well respected in the community, 100% trust what they say. Unfortunately $$$ is a huge concern just got divorced and my unemployment just ran out....I'm just hoping I can find a job before I have to sell the jeep!

Does this make any senes: I called the stealership to inquire about a factory tie rod and the guy in the parts department asked which one, the left side on or the right side....hummm, I'm by no means an expert here, but I thought the was just one. When I look at it, it seems to be 3 pieces, the rod itself and the right and left side joints, with the steering stabilizer attached....am I missing something here...I am way off the make and still thinking the wrong part?

The tie rod is two seperate pieces. There is the majority left side kf it that includes one joint and the bar, and the right side that is the adjustable sleeve and other joint. The adjusting sleeve on the tie rod end is on the far right, and is where the two pieces connect. You can order it online. The left side is the most expensive, and the right side is the cheaper side because its just the joint and tube that goes into the sleeve. If this makes any sense?

Hey thanks for the info everyone. I've been searching and looks like I can get a new adjusting sleeve for $20 and hopefully just replace that until I can afford a better replacement. I'm going to try it this weekend.

I have both a track bar and tie rod that have 12000 miles on them if you need one of them not really sure what one you are looking for!

Tie rod is what I may still be looking for. Give me the weekend, I think I found a cheap fix solution, I let you know. Thanks
