NEWBIE RUN: Last Chance Canyon Dec. 7th.

Mcpuck,

I've got two friends that want to roll with us and two others that are undecided.

Keep your head low and your powder dry.

Holy cow! This is turning out to be a huge run! :thumb:

Good thing about this trail is that you can divide and conquer. At the V-notch there will be some that will want to do it while others will want to press on to Camp Cudahy to look around the place a bit. Then another place to break the group is at the Holly Cleanser Mine "Short Cut". Those looking for a tad bit more aggressive trail can take the short cut and the others can take the fire road over to the mines. There is also a road as you come out of Last Chance proper to the passenger that takes to you a very high hill that allows you to over look most of the El Paso Mountain range. When you get to the top you need to head to passenger again or you will encounter a very steep downhill that will bring new meaning to words PUCKER FACTOR.

A suggestion for those that don't have flashlights or headlamps in their rigs, get them and put them in the vehicle. You will want them if you stop at the Old Dutch Cleanser mines and you will definitely want them for the Burro Schmidt mine.

Thanks for your advice. Those leading this run are very familiar with the trail and JeepFan has done extensive planning to organize this run so it goes off without a hitch. :yup:

Don are you going to be all fixed up and ready to go by the time this run happens? I thought I saw you were having transmission problems or something like that

Thanks for asking! My Jeep should have a new transmission installed by Monday. The torque convertor went out, fluid stopped pumping, and I burnt up the tranny. If there is any problem my pal will let me borrow his rig to make the run.:thumb:

That's good news indeed! I'm glad you got a backup plan! Looking forward to pics and video from this trip cause it sounds like it's going to be fun!

Hey Don, I'd love to join you guys on this run, but I'm not sure my Jeep will be fixed in time. (Crossing my fingers). I'm a maybe for now.

Get those slabs installed and hit the trail with us! :yup:

That's the easy part. Still have to replace my steering box (yes, I twisted another sector shaft) and replace a front axle seal. :banghead:

Ugh! You're welcome to borrow my spare steering box if you want. Hope you can make it out, it would be great to see you!

Put me down !! Since this is a local run for me. Love to see all the Jeeps
I may even check out LCC some time this week end. Lots of dirt bikes out there too

Count me in.... No top and doors right? Highs in the lower 40 deg should be fun!

I've been advised that doing any wheeling on my brand new (under 500 miles) 5.13 gears it's not too wise.
Going down on this Friday for my oil change, diff change and re-torquing at ORE and was planning on heading up to this event right after - guess not now.
I'll have to get with you all on another event.

Have a great time!

Just pull a 'Ferris Bueller's day off.' Put your jeep on jack stands and leave it in drive for the week.
