Do you lock your doors?

I always lock the Jeep... Even with the top off.

A very common practice among thieves is to fish by walking through a parking lot ant quickly trying doors. When they find one that opens it is a quick and easy job. If they have to go climbing or take time they will move on to an easier target. This being said, don't keep crap out that is worth anything.... and I mean ANYTHING. Ther is a lot to be said for "outta'-sight-outta'-mind".

(I was raised in a crappy area and hung around with some pretty poor quality guys when I was young. This was their technique then and after talking to my law enforcement friends now, it is still a VERY common practice.)

I believe most thieves are pretty lazy, thus the cut tops rather than opening them. Even if I do get robbed, at least I feel like I made due-diligence in the prevention.

I think we need stickers for our rear windows that says "dont cut, unzip" or something like that... but then i feel its more of an invitation for people to mess with the jeeps. I always lock my rig I feel mostly out of just habit anymore from owning so many cars. I never really let the jeep sit anywhere tho other than my house.

That is the best practice. If you don't want it stolen, don't leave it in your car. Petty theifs don't care about what is distroyed in the process of getting the goods and although it's best to stay out of the bad neighborhoods, they target the nice ones as well because they know there are valuable items. I live in a well-off neighborhood and my old Explorer was stolen right out of my garage (wasn't home or the guy would of been in a body bag). Get an alarm, lock doors no matter what (if they are on:bleh:), and make it harder to obtain goods because most thiefs are lazy!

If people are breaking into cars to steal cd's and whatever else you leave laying around there amateurs the good ones are just gonna take the whole car.

Breaking into a car that has doors left open is a misdemeanor, breaking into a car that's all locked up is a felony.

I lock my doors, and keep registration and paperwork in the tuffy lock box.

I always hit the lock button on my fob. Even with the doors off so the rear tailgate compartment is locked. The rear compartment will take some effort for someone to open it . I just don't leave anything that is worth stealing.

Man if I were you I'd def invest in some sort of alarm with a proximity sensor. Seriously, if your rig got stolen both my rig and I would probably cry. I swear one time I walked out to the parking lot and my rig was pinching its own nipples calling itself "EVOJEEP". It was awkward....

Now, THAT ^^ is funny.

If you use a Garmin or some other device and you have a window or dash mount, I would suggest putting that in the console or glove box or at least out of sight. If someone sees that, they might think the device is still in the Jeep too. Plus, if you leave a jacket in your Jeep, don't leave it bunched up on the seat or the floor, because someone might think you're using it to hide something valuable.

But, on another note... When we have the doors off, I always turn to my wife and ask "Did you lock your door?" as we're getting out.

I do. Top off...top on...doesn't matter. Makes me feel better.

This being my first Jeep is taking a lot of getting used to having it exposed like it is.

Trying to adopt the "it's bound to happen" line of thinking.

With the top and doors off i still hit the door locks ... Why??? I have a Toughy security deck and i don't want anyone to be able to just open the gate and take whats under it.

I also obsessively lock my house doors. I don't want to be an easy home invasion victim. I also have weapons strategically placed around the house so one is never far away.

I know, some may think I'm weird. Better weird and obsessive than be a victim.

I run the tuffy security deck when I run the soft top. I lock the "jeep" so the rear cargo area cannot be accessed as easily. I keep nothing of value in the main compartment. Actually I don't think there is anything in either my glove box or center console.

I am the same way. I love my security deck. I leave my glovebox and center console unlocked so it doesn't get broken.

If I lock my doors using my key fob then you can't reach in and physically hit the unlock button. Its non functional. Must be a safety feature. So even with the top off I still lock the doors. Maybe I will keep those honest people out

I never look the doors for two reason 1 they are looked up in the shed lol 2 i have a soft top and if someone wants to look around i would rather they use the door then knife my windows because they forgot how to use a zipper. I do in fact look my boxes inside that have just some paperwork. As for someone taking it well its a standard soo just eliminated more then 50% of people lol.

He's not very honest if he needs a lock to keep him out...

Its an old saying. Holds true though, less people are tempted to get your stuff if its harder than pulling a handle open

Wasn't aware that Jeep doors locked. Guess that's what all those funny buttons on my key do.
