Snake & Mongoose

I can't wait!

This is the era I officially became a gear head and got hooked on racing and the world of horsepower! I can remember this rivalry in person as a little kid hanging out in my dad's pit at the drag races. I would sneak away and go check out both of these race cars. I had both the Snake and Mongoose T-shirts, but the Mongoose was always my favorite. Those were awesome times!

They were a couple of my drag racing heroes in the early 70's.

My brother and I had this HotWheels set.

Oh yes, That is awesome! I had both the HotWheels cars, along with dozens of the brands other cars, but didn't have that official track set. I probably had 100' feet of track though with the hand crank spinners and a battery operated spinner to keep the cars in motion. Today's toys suck!

Hey Greg, you ever heard of the car "The Sundancer" corvette or the six day wonder? That was my late father in law, Steve McCracken. Unfortunately, he past about 7 yrs ago and before we could really do some wrenching together.

I may have to take my kids to see this so they can see the type of stuff their grandpa did.

Found a vid of sundancer.

Finally a sports movie I want to see!!

Anyone going to the summer nationals this year in Pomona?

No worries. I'm guessing you were a bit young. It was a while ago. ;)

During the time of that video you linked, I was in my teens. During the Mongoose and Snake days, I was a baby, preschooler, and in grade school. I still remember it clearly, standing behind my dad Alcohol burning Altered class car during burnouts. This movie will bring back some great memories.

.....I have been trying to talk Eddie into going, He has no idea the power of a top fuel dragster.

I think he should go, it will complete the circle he has already seen the beginning of. Last years JKX when we toured Schumacher Racing in Indianapolis, he saw the place where Top Fuel Dragsters and Funny Cars are born. It only makes sense to see them do their work on the track!
