ALL in the Name of SAVING the PLANET

WOOHOOO!! Just read this article, again, written in a way to make it sounds like a bad thing but all I can do is celebrate!! The orange man bad strikes again and this time, he killed a stupid massive brandon solar project in Nevada that would have been the size of Las Vegas and in the middle of pristine desert.

I know there are peeps out there who don't like this guy on both side of the isle and for different reasons but shit like this... make me soooooo glad that I voted for him (y)

They just closed one why were they trying to open another?

This is what I voted for.

185 square miles?! And they were comparing it to the Hoover dam? The Hoover dam doesn’t even compare in size, whoever wrote that has been kicked in the head by a mule a few times.
Not just compared to the Hoover Dam, 3x it's generating capacity. The amount of virgin desert it would have blanketed and destroyed would have literally have been the size of the city of Las Vegas! But hey, all in the name of saving the planet, right?

Yet the Hoover dam is only .03 square miles lol I guess if the are talking about Lake Mead, it’s comparable.

This one has been in the works for a while now. Brandon just made it happen before he left. It's also supposed to be more efficient that Ivanpah and over 10x the size.

Me too!!!
There was a small problem with Brandon's plan. The vast majority of solar cells are made in China. There is hardly any domestic manufacturing. The huge solar generating plant would depend on China. China also has a corner on the market for the raw materials required to make solar cells. This is not actually energy independence since it is so incredibly dependent!

Solar is so stupid for so many reasons. SMRs are better in every way and truly the only realistic way to power us into the future.
Hopefully SMRs do succeed. They seem to only solve one aspect of the nuclear "problem", which is about how to avoid the extreme weight of government regulations required for normal sized plants. We are only now bringing on line the first new nuclear plant built since the 1950s! Technical problems (mostly about fail-safe cooling and shutdown) have been solved for a long time.

The political problem of how to dispose of nuclear waste remains.

I believe AI Dara centers will be the driving force for SMRs.
I don't know of others being built, but if the Permian Basin SMR proves to be successful it'll be a big win, I believe the completion date is in 2026.

Microsoft jumped off the "green energy" quick and believe they have gotten approval for nuclear energy to power their data centers.
