They do that here too, including people’s fireplaces, but it’s not a swath of months like yours, and it’s usually due to inversion issues I believe. That’s crazy.

Oh yeah. Typical. I thought you meant something specific. I do think it applies to only being within a certain distance from a forest but I could be wrong. I try to burn outside that time as well regardless.

It’s anything not in a barrel and covered. Technically an open barrel is illegal. Has nothing to do with forest. Just all the dormant/dead grass that’ll catch.
What's crazy is that our burn season just started. Not that any of the farms stop burning regardless of what time of year it is.

It's free out here for a permit during burn bans. I couldn't care less if people do it safely. I just worry about the retards.

Yup people do it here and that’s when the neighbors call the FD. lol
Technically speaking, you do need a permit here as well but I think it's mainly for people who live closer to town. The first year we had our Pizen place, we got one but haven't since.
LOL - I'm pretty sure that's what the permits are for. So that if the FD gets a call, they can look up the address and see if it just might be a brush burn. Of course, off season, that'd be a different story.

Yeah they call the chiefs of the department but when the call is made the FD still has to respond to investigate.
