States relying on "federal help" is a slippery slope which has already lead to excessive federal control of state, city, and local institutions. This already includes federal control of our public education system via a system of "grants", testing, and rules. Existing federal control has become quite extensive.

Anyone who considers themselves to be a conservative should be concerned about the erosion of local control at the state, county, city, district level. The dilution from external forces weakens the power of our votes, and the power out voice has when communicating with local leaders.

This is not the type of government that our founding fathers envisioned.

I actually see your point. For once.

But at the same time, the shit hole parts of blue cities is because of the very erosion of the local and state governments not doing jack shit for years.

I have a friend who goes to DC often. She went Thursday and said she couldn't believe how different it was. She said it was the first time she's seen families out, people walking dogs, etc. She said it was so refreshing to see the city so clean.

That was my observation as well. We had to go to a retirement party a week or so ago in DC for one of the Drs my wife used to work with. It’s a different city now. But and this is a big but it’s DC, a federal enclave. It’s technically not a state so I’m not completely uncomfortable with the feral takeover of policing. When it comes to states and cities I’m very uncomfortable with feds taking over. Now having national guard assisting ICE is different especially in so called sanctuary cities.
