What started off as an annoying air leak in the ARB rear locker on our Dynatrac ProRock 80 lead to a much bigger problem and one that required the help of a good shop that really knows what they're doing to fix it. In this video collaboration we did with Disciple Off Road, you'll get to see the problems they found on Moby, our beloved Jeep JK Wrangler and what it took to get him ready for the trail again.

Awesome! So glad we were able to get him up and running again and hopefully better than before with an “always” working locker. It was also great seeing you guys rip him on the trails in shaver, breaking in the gears the right way 😎

Also, thanks for the opportunity to film and edit the video, was a ton of fun!
 
ARB parts no longer made for that housing, what model was used? and is that what Disciple was referring to in another post about how they had to clearance the inside of the housing?

The ARB RD176 is what was needed for the 5.38 gear ratio (for the proper deck height). And yes several spots inside were pretty bad with raised metal/cast from the debris getting shot around.

Man, it's so good to be driving Moby again and it really is all thanks to you. Great job on the video too. Really looking forward to hitting more trails with you in the future.

Yes, that what it was and yes, it really is good to be driving Moby again.
 
Finally got a chance to watch this. Great video. So the broken ring gear teeth, was that from the local shop that just worked on it not setting it up right? Or from a previous shop long ago?

With the exception of the air leak, things were fine before we took Moby to a local shop. EVERYTHING went to shit after. And, I'm sure I'm being totally sexist for saying it but the local shop had a girl working on Moby. I saw her and there's no way she could manage a PR80 locker on her own. I honestly think she dropped it at one point and that caused things like the air line to break off.
 
I loath air lockers. It seemed every 2-3 weekend trips, I would be replacing the seals in my old Xterra if I wanted the rear locker to be reliable.

In addition to the broken air line, from what I could guess, looked like the carrier shims were flipped flopped when it was put back in causing it to have insane backlash. The carrier had so much slop before pulling it out.
