Motech build underway! LT1 10l80

This just in… transport is scheduled! I should have my Jeep back in the next couple of days. Question for the folks with V8 conversions, particularly the ones living in areas where the temps soar over 100 degrees. Did any of you have to change or modify your hood to provide additional cooling? I have already picked up a new bumper to sink the winch and Robbie removed the inner fender liners. I am hoping that is sufficient. Thanks

Changing hood doesnt do much execpt when your idling at like a stop light or something like that. Clearing the grill and inner fenders does a much better job at allowing cool air in and letting hot air escape.

That’s all I did no issues in AZ

She's finally home!! Only been on a couple of short drives so far but Holy Cow!!! I can't get this smile off my face! I have yet to go past 1/4 throttle and constantly finding myself going over the speed limit, talk about power on demand. And the sound during a cold start...Damn!

Dude!
Congratulations on your MOTECH swap!

It is by far the single biggest improvement that I made to my Jeep!

What I learned about cooling.

1- Keep the grill totally clear (you’re on that)

2- Ditch fender liners. (You’re on that)
I thought that the motor might get dirty but unless you are mud bogging it won’t.

3- Realize that modern engines run hotter so what you thought was ‘hot’ back in the day isn’t now. (I’m sure Robbie gave you guidance on the temps if not Kalan @LS JK will.)

4- The hottest mine has gotten is on the trail and was on a long, hard, slow climb without the benefit of high speed air flow through the radiator- if you get worried turn off the Air-Con. If you are still worried turn on your heat. If it gets really hot pull over and let it idle- do not shut it off because that will stop air flow.

Mine has never gotten over 230 and I have really pushed it- on and off road in hot climates like AZ, NV, UT.

Change your oil religiously. Oil is cheap in comparison! 😂🤣

Hope you enjoy yours as much as I enjoy mine!!

Keep us updated on your experience.

I appreciate the input on the cooling. Robbie was definitely informative on the coolant temps. I wasn't a fan of the no fender liner idea before I got it back. But it is pretty cool to be able to see that Beautiful LT1 resting under the hood.
As far as Enjoyment, it start the minute I turned the key the first time.
Thanks
